The High Price of STEEM and SBD! Will It Last?

The past month has seen the value of Steem and SBD go up. The most conservative estimate of how much the price of Steem will be at the end of 2018 that I read was 3 USD. I am glad that December has seen that value coming true.

What is a real surprise though is the value of SBD having broken records and touched a new height. As of writing this post it is up there at 7.78 USD which is actually a bit lower than what we saw in last 2 days. No one knows the exact reason as to why the value is so high. Some say that there are people buying SBD without really knowing what it is (mistaking it for Steem, though I find that quite unlikely). Others see something sinister behind the high value and conjecture that it could be someone or a group of individuals who could be pushing up the price of SBD to meet some goal of theirs whatever it could be.

Actually no one is even sure whether the value of SBD will even consider what down to $1 as it is supposed to be. After all it is expected to be tied to the value of the US dollar!

Just like we saw a lot of people guessing the expected price of Steem at the end of 2017 there are now people calling out their hopes of Steem touching 20 USD and even 100 USD at the end of the year 2018. It feels good to see such optimism especially when you see some conflicts on the platform getting ugly quite regularly of late. I am talking about the down voting and name calling bouts that have been taking place. The reason that I am mentioning this is because an outsider might find it difficult to believe, when he sees all this going on, that the optimism is for real.

In any case I am also one of those who is quite bullish on the rise of Steem in the coming year. Though I would not like to peg a value that I expect to see I do see a lot of good things happening through the year. For one the SMTs are going to work out well one reason being that it is a revolutionary concept. The bigger reason is that anything that rewards monetarily on the internet is bound to be successful.

Bloggers and forum owners who would Ike you boost their traffic and reward their readers and members will take to SMTs in a big way. Besides word will spread about Steem and more enthusiasts will join the community making it bigger and stronger. Steemit will get noticed all over the online and offline world while growing its base and increasing its reach across the planet. More people will experience all that Steemit has to offer. The result will be a chain of events all if which will push up the price of Steem and cause more investment to come in to the overall kitty.
