Life on a Sailboat: Black Point Settlement Bahamas (Smartphone Photography)
This is my entry into the #smartphonephotography contest by @juliank These photos were taken with my husband's smartphone (because mine was glitchy after spending 20 minutes at the bottom of the ocean) When he gets back I'll edit this to add what kind of phone it was, because I can't remember.
This was the sunset during our first night at Black Point settlement. It was quite the adventure getting into this harbor. Our engine had died and we were totally dependent on sails alone. The cut into the harbor was treacherous and not just a little bit scary. We had to hit it at the exact right time to come in before the tides were too high, but also so they weren't too low.
We had to fill these jugs in order to have water on the boat. When we took them to shore this time, there was a group of kids who begged to help. They were all fighting over the jugs and who got to carry what.
Patrick @serapium let them all help fill up the water jugs, although it was a bit of a struggle trying to get them to stop fighting over who went first. Ahhh... just like when our kids were little :)
Being in such a nice calm harbor left us time to actually try out the paddleboard and do quite a bit of swimming. The kids were in the water almost constantly. Patrick, @abyni @knightengale @loliboofae and @schmwke all tried their hand at wind surfing, but mroe often than not, it was a little TOO calm to get the board going.
Abyni, of course got in her practice time with the ukulele, singing on the back deck and getting applause and cheers from the other boats between songs. <3
It was SO nice here, the comaradarie between the crew/family was exceptionally sweet this week and just looking back over the photos fills me with a peaceful kind of happiness, just remembering.
There were other things that happened then, and I could fill up a week's worth of posts for every single place we stopped... maybe later. For now, I'm going to take my sick, aching, coughing self back to bed.
Thank you for reading :)
A beautiful post! This deserves so much more attention than it has gotten in the last 12 hours. Bahamas is definitely on my travel list now!
Thank you! It really was a Beautiful place! We traveled down from Bimini through a lot of the islands, including some uninhabited ones and it was just glorious.
Thank you for the support!

The first photograph is just fantastic! It has such a magical effect. Looks like some movie shot. Glad you and your family had a nice time and your daughter is so attractive <3
Thank you! I tried to capture so much of the beauty there, but it was always even better in person!
Thanks for the comment!
