A brain-teaser about marriage
Marriage between man and woman sustains life more than man-and-man or woman-and-woman. However, this is in no way an injunction against same-sex attraction.
This is merely a response to the wrong assertion that says, all marriages are unnatural. The same wrong assertion goes on to say that caste falls in the same box as marriage, which is again very, very wrong. Caste and marriage are two wildly different things. While marriage is ancient, caste is relatively new. The strength derived from the union in marriage has sustained life, however, caste has deprived millions of a fulfilling living.
If we want to speak in favor of freedom for same-sex relationships, we can do so without having to tell lies or without having to wrongly assert that all marriages are unnatural.
India has decriminalized same-sex relationships, which is a cause for celebration at least among a section of the people. But the country has to go a long way, in part because the legalization alone does not provide the condition of freedom; in rural areas, the opinions of the society trump over what the law says; the rule of law plays a very little role.
It is understandable that some activists are trying hard to change the mindset of the people. While their activism is laudable, they should still avoid telling lies in their pursuit of the goal that they seek to achieve. Truth is important. Telling lies is still bad. We don't have to condemn the man-woman relationships, in attempting to create a condusive atmosphere for the same-sex attraction.
