UNHRC Report
The office United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights published a report – the first of its kind – on 14 June, 2018, on the human rights violations by India, between June 2016 and April 2018, in Jammu and Kashmir and calls for an international probe.
India's ministry of external affairs, on its part, called the report “fallacious, tendentious and motivated” and questioned the “intent in bringing out such a report”.
However, unfortunately for the Indian govt., in rejecting the UNHRC Report, it is rejecting the facts and observations made primarily by India's own domestic press, India's own courts and commissions of government-appointed committees. In fact, some of the information was obtained through right to information applications, which means it is the government’s own data. So, it must be asked to the Indian govt. which parts of the UNHRC Report were fallacious.
UNHRC Report made the following charges against the Indian govt.:
Lack of justice for the people, while exempting the security forces from punishment.
The military courts and tribunal impede the path of justice.
Public Safety Act, according to India's own Supreme Court itself is "a lawless law”, as there's no rule or procedure for detention.
Disproportionate/excessive use of force on common citizens and protesters.
Torture and forced disappearances.
