Random Japan #47 :: The Train of Sun City (& win 1 SBD—details inside)

in #randomjapan6 years ago

Welcome, internet friends, to issue 47 of Random Japan, the photo series that gives you completely unplanned and random shots that may or may not be interesting, shots that show what regular everyday life is like here.

The standard contest rules apply today as everyday: gimme an upvote, a resteem, and a quality comment about your favorite photo from this post and you will be entered in the drawing for 1 SBD.

Today we take a trip to Sun City, look at one of the many old and closed buildings around here, and a train—or a “ting ting” as my one year old would say.

Let’s get started. It’s time begin…

Random Japan

Trains A-Coming
Train’s A-Coming

The station you see here is pretty normal. Even in the biggest cities, smaller stations are often little more than a roof and chairs.

Incidentally, train photography is an extremely popular pastime in this country. At almost every station there seems to be at least one person taking photos, often with a very high-end camera and very expensive lenses. Two such people were next to me when I took this shot.

Sun City
Sun City

Welcome to Sun City. An odd name for an apartment building, but as we saw yesterday, apartment buildings in Japan often have odd names. The name fit on this day, because, as you can see on the right side of this photo, it was very sunny (and hot).

The kanji says “Okazaki Koen-mae”, which is the name of the nearby train station (not the one featured in the first photo). I don’t know if that is part of the name of this apartment or not. Maybe there are other sun cities in other parts of this city that have nearby landmarks in their names too.

Always Closed
Always Closed

The storefront on the first level here is always closed and has been for the past several years. The shutters are open upstairs so I suppose someone lives here. At any rate, this is a common sight: buildings that are either partially or totally closed up.

We’ve reached the end of today’s trip. Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you for reading and please come back tomorrow for another Random Japan. See you then.

Remember, if you want to be entered in the drawing for 1 SBD, leave a quality comment, upvote, and resteem this post. Drawing will be in 7 days when this post pays out.
