My Liquid Half

I'll meet you at home,
for a regular old session,
after some time with you,
out comes my confession.

My faithful, dear old partner,
slender neck, body sleek,
fill the crevice in my soul,
without you I am weak.

You peel away my pains,
bring some ease and rest,
a night without you in hand
is a torturous, enduring test.

I never made an agreement,
to part with alcohol.
No one could bear to see me
in my desperate state of withdrawal.

There can be no censorship,
of the trying emotional mess
that my whole life becomes,
if I resist giving an easy, 'yes'.

And if I don't much feel like a drink,
I'll often breathe it in as a mist.
Spray it and inhale real deep
hold it in so I can't resist.
