Winter sunset over Norfolk

I’m not a big fan of English winters. I grew up under the warm East African sun and I feel more at home in the tropics than these strange northern lands where the water turns solid and for weeks at a time the skies are grey and miserable. However, every now and then there are crisp, bright and brilliant winter days which are often perishing cold are also remarkably beautiful and if you are lucky you can witness stunning sunsets that last for ages.

I took this picture on one of those lovely days last year and in classic photographer style I just pulled over on the side of the road in some random field to watch it and capture this image. It was one of the sunsets that seems to have multiple characters - it’s lifecycle started off with subtle pastel colours and developed into bright brilliant reds, pinks and blues before fading into deep satin blue.
