Exploring Copenhagen - Ordrupgaard Museum Architecture

If I'm honest when I say in the title "Exploring Copenhagen" it should be more like "Exploring Denmark" as this museum is actually situated in Charlottenlund, which is north of Copenhagen. But hey, I think it makes it easier for everyone to understand haha

The Finn Juhl house that I showcased in my last post is part of the Ordrupgaard Museum that was founded in 1916. The museum houses one of Northern Europe's most significant collections of Danish and French art from the 19th and early 20th century, but I was mainly focusing on the modern art and the sculptures in the garden of this property.

The extension that is seen here was designed by architect Zaha Hadid and has a black finish that's contrasted by the flowing curves of the shape itself. It's an interesting mix of ideas, you have the old property linked with this super modern form. I was also drawn to the large expanse of windows as the light is incredible in this space which is now used as a cafe/meeting area.

Here are a few pictures of the this building by Zaha Hadid. Overall this is a fantastic museum and I highly reccomend visiting it, probably best to go here and then head over to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art by the train. You can do them all in one day. Enjoy.
