Photo Series #58: Epiphone Casino - My Story | What do you do when not traveling?

Hello dear readers! Entry to #macrophotography by @photocontests. The noise machine.

In the the Cream's Farewell Concert video, made is 1968, you can hear the interviewer saying.

The electronic guitar is also dismissed as nothing but a jungling noise machine.

And this crazy 'electronic' machine is what I like to have when I'm not exploring some amazing place.

I started playing in 2012, when I bought the guitar in this post. However, my story with rock started listening to all sorts of records at a friends house when I was a kid. His mom had vinyls varying from Pink Floyd to Queen and we used to listen over and over again. This same friend later in life introduced me to Eric Clapton, and so a passion for guitar started.

Time passed and my childhood friend became a professional musician and I abandoned the guitar idea for years. It wasn't until 2012, when I finally got one.

The guitar in this post is an Epiphone Casino inspired by John Lennon.

Have you guessed why I bought this? Yes! Heavily influenced by The Beatles.

Since 2012, I've played the hell out of it, gaining enough experience to play as George Harrison for a Beatles tribute, what a blast that was!

Guitar is like a drug, it's highly addicting, once you have one you want to have them all and the more you discover new songs you feel obsessed about learning it. At the beginning your fingers can't follow it, but you try, and try and sweat until you can get it right.

After my first guitar I've got two more. The second one, again, influenced by the 1960's, an icon with unique tone, it's a Rickenbacker inspired on the 360 model.

My Rickenbacker was made by argentinean luthier Horacio Lista, in 1996. Horacio unfortunately is not amongst us anymore, but his passion for the Beatles made him build perfect replicas.

This is one of the things that hurts the most when I think about living in a van or a sailboat, I won't be able to take them all into a small space and I'll possibly need to sell two of them to finance the new lifestyle.

Until then, let's keep on playing on every spare time.

And you, do you like guitars? What do you do when you are not exploring? Leave a comment, I'd like to know about you.

I hope you've enjoyed this small story and photo series. If you liked it, consider giving your upvote for a hot coffee.

Thats so cool and its awesome to see you on stage, guitar in hand!!! As you know we are music lovers here. Its my boy Jarrah thats the great guitarist though!!!! Dad has heaps of guitars as he has been collecting them. But since he has been ill he has been selling them and giving them away. I.e one to his youngest grandson as a gift as the other 2 had already been given guitars. Anyway, he is giving me his laramie parlour guitar as I love how it feels. Dad really wants me to start learning again so I suppose i shpuld AGAIN but i always give up. But it feels right and Im excited about this gift from Dad that i will treasure forever.

Kylieeeeeeee
Come on, don't give up! It's so rewarding when we are able to play at least one full song.
I wish I knew how to play harmonica, I've never tried though... at least it's smaller to carry around the trips.

Have you ever tried Ukulele? It's sweeeeet.

Yes I have ukelele!!!! I spent a whole summer strumming, it was great fun!!! My problem is, i can't play with other people - it's hard enough to keep my own rhythm!! I will post about the guitar when i can see Dad, as I have a cold and I can't see him as his immune system is fucked from the chemo - he is in hospital and has been sending me links to tunes on spotify all morning, bless him.

Aw, Kylie, when you can, send him a warm hug and the best positivity from a brazilian friend! I hope you and him get better soon!
I would love to read about the guitars. Btw, does your son have steemit?

No, he doesn't. He's a funny kid. Writes like an angel, every single colon and full stop in it's place, with wit and perceptiveness, but only when he is forced to. He's not like me, telling everyone my heart's depths - he speaks when he needs to, and doesn't see the point in verbosity. I always tell him he should be a music reviewer! He'd be good at it. He's busy at uni and work and that too, so I guess he barely has time as he's still getting the hang of adulting. He's one of these alt-youths too that dont spend as much time on tech as people think, which is great. I guess what I reckon describes jarrah really well is that although he's a great guitarist, he picked up the drums because he didnt want to be a front man, and everyone played the guitar, so drumming seemed like a good option if he wanted to be in a band - more chances of being in one I guess. And the fact he's becoming a sound engineer, you know, the behind the scenes man.

That's really cool to hear Kylie, I have some friends that are sound producers, it's a great and super rewarding work.
I asked about steemit because he, as a musician, could explore the hell out of it, to expose his work.

I know, he's just not that motivated in that regard. The boys have been so disorganised that they are just writing it off as a learning curve really. They put out their album (did you listen to it?) but were crap at promoting it.

I didn't actually, I'll play it right now as I work on the bike for tomorrow!

Both of us here at Vinyly Music are guitar players and we know what it feels like!

Awesome, thanks for the comment @vinylymusic!
Guess my first guitar is the one I'll never be able to sell.

Good read, man. I actually posted about my first guitar just a few days ago. What a coincidence.

It sounds like you have some really cool guitars. I have never played a rickenbacker guitar. I have played one of their basses however, and it was one of the best playing and sounding basses I have played.

Thanks for sharing.

You did? I'll check it. Sometimes I have dozens of tabs openned here that I forget to read them all, but I will.

Rickenbakers have some unique sound you know... its clean sound gets close to a Tele, but still, it's different. My rick though is a handmade replica done by and incredible argentinean luthier. You can spot the difference comparing the appearance of mine against an original, but if you compare the sound, no way you'll discover.

Same thing with the Casino, when clean it's pure charm, but when you put it into some good cranked valve amp that thing becomes a beast, it feedbacks, shakes, screams hahahahha

What kinds of music are you into?
