Jungle Wildlife Walk - Costa Rica

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

The dry season has arrived for Costa Rica, some call it the summer but as we are slightly North of the Equator here it is actually technically winter! The day length and temperature varies very little between the seasons here, so the abundance of plants and there speed of growth is truly stunning! The animal wild life is equally rich with plentiful, food and water in abundance.
Now capturing these wonders on camera is another matter entirely! Although the trees and undergrowth are teeming with wild life, getting them in shot and focus in a spit second is tricky to say the least. So please enjoy what I could capture today and I will endeavour to bring more of Costa Rica's wonders very soon.

Thanks Prince :D

Sometimes I wonder how you mange to capture pictures from a very good angle

Good question! I just experiment :D

i always wanted to explore wildlife and capture in photos like the one that you did. great photos, i enjoyed browsing thru. thanks for sharing @icedrum.

Grab a a cheap camera and go for it! I use a 5 year old Fuji s2950 and it woks ok as you see - could be faster to turn on and focus ... but you pay more for such features!

Following you now for our many shared interests :D

Awesome photography ,

Thank you so much lalitswami,
Good to see you :D

Nice choice Keep it up

Thanks Doc :D

Costa Rica looks beautiful in the winter. Would love to take a stroll in the Costa Rica jungle one day

It is a stunning place ... like the garden of Eden - do visit, you will be so glad you did :D

Ahh, the look of spring in the winter. These beautiful photos allow me to take a break from this dreary, cold season. Thanks for bringing warmth a little bit closer :)

The photos are really beautiful.

Thanks Gearup :D

Hello ENT,
Thank you so much - it is most gratifying to have remotely warmed you!

We share many interests so I am following you now! :D

Thanks. Turns out I was already following you! Great minds think alike. :)

beautiful @incdrum

Thank you MehdiAb :D

It's amazing that such a diverse range of organisms can grow from something as wimple as dirt. These are absolutely beautiful. I remember growing chilies in my window sill. They were strong enough to make a grown man cry. To think that a plant can pull all this energy from dirt and sunflower is mesmerizing, to say the least.
happy new year man :)

Hello Emil,
I have pondered the very same! The ability of plants (and animals) to convert whatever they consume into themselves is a constant and beautiful wonder of nature!

Following you now also :D

I imagine you could spend countless days in the jungle of Costa Rica and find new things to photograph every day... Duh!

Place looks amazing... and also full of predators.. were you armed?

G'day Biffy,
You are so right ... everyday something new can appear here! The other week I saw a totally new animal to me ... a Coati or Pizote, a member of the racoon family with a long mobile snout and faintly ringed tail which is nearly as long as the rest of its body! Way to fast for me to get a picture of but amazing to see!
I am armed only with a camera! There are indeed various spiders, snakes and other potentially dangerous animals to encounter here - but if one moves slowly and watches exactly where you are about to hang on to or walk ... like make sure it is a branch not a snake and don't touch the caterpillars ... you'll be fine! Much safer than walking in polluted car ridden cities :D

Hey, i totally agree about that city part, drivers can be callously careless! I would, without a doubt, take your location, over a city... granted I could sustain myself of course.

Great description of that animal, the Coati, put a nice picture of my head of what it may look like before i Google it.. i picture it scurrying across a large vine of some sort to evade you..

I imagine there may be some larger predators, in those untouched secluded jungles. I can see why or how someone might make that poor mistake with snakes..

Cheers!

We have many harmless big animals ... sloths, turtles and whales, to name but three :D
