Kanapah Botanical Gardens Adventure Part 6
🍃🌺 Camilla / Azalea Garden 🌺🍃
Gainesville, Florida, USA
Howdy, are you ready for the next adventure? I hope so we are almost done! I am saving the best ones for last. Forgive me now because this one is a bit photo heavy but well worth it on the eyes!
Today we are going to the Camilla / Azalea Garden. The photos shown here is all Camilla flowers as there were no Azaleas blooming in this part. So let's get going.
These are various breeds of Camilla's. They are so super gorgeous don't you think? I love this one because of how the deep pink and white flows with eachother.
Camilla's come in a variety of colors and styles. They are long blooming and love southern weather.
Fun fact: Camilla's are actually blooming shrubs. Don't let the appearance of a tree full of flowers fool you!
These red ones are gorgeous. Deep blood red flowers of any variety are my favorite color of flowers. This garden reminds me of something you would see in Alice in Wonderland even those these are no roses!
Here is a close up of the previous flower. The Camilla flower is the state flower for Alabama. But these grow anywhere in the south.
They grow with half shade half sun and need a moderate amount of water. They bloom best in more shady areas!
Camilla's are suspecible to pests and fungi. So making sure you use proper products to keep those away will help blooming flowers.
As you can see they come in a variety of colors and sizes!
Have you spotted your favorite one yet? They also thrive well in containers.
You can also get hybrids so you can even grow these up north if you wish.
This is the informational sign for this particular part of our adventure!
I have a few more adventures in this place. Here is a list of what we have left.. PLEASE DROP A COMMENT ON WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO NEXT!

Oh lovely! My parents had camillas in their garden in New Orleans, and I loved seeing them when I visited. They moved further north recently, but I would guess Camillas would still grow in Tennessee? I think I liked the red ones best, or the first one with pink and white. As for the next stop on the tour, I think I'd like to see the children's garden or the koi pond. :)
Awesome. You can probably find the exact zone for flowering / hardiness but they do make hybrids that grow in colder conditions. Thanks for the vote on the part of the Adventure. I was thinking those 2 as well
I looked up and down through the pics a couple of times looking for the Azaleas before I noticed that you said there weren't any :) Hard to pick a fav.... the first shot of the red one has great bokeh, and the pink one, third from the end has the best color in my mind :)
The red one does.. I didn't even notice the background lol. I am totally loving my new camera... yes they weren't in bloom yet in this part of the garden!
What is the new camera?
Wow very stunning flower for sure. I love the partly pink and white one. I say you check out the childrens garden. It intrigues me for some reason.
I will post that one later tonight!!!
Wow, flower power heaven. These are fantastic, great quality on the photos and I'm amazed how much was at the Botanical gardens. Loved all your posts on this fantastic content thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
