One Photo Every Day: New Year’s Merit Making (101/365), ไปนมัสการพระที่วัดบวรนิเวศน์วิหาร, The OPED project.

Yesterday I went to make merit at three Buddhist temples or Wats as it was the first day of the New Year 2018 or 2561 in Thai calendar! The third temple I visited happened to open for public till late in the evening. I was very lucky to find a parking space as a car was about to leave! Then, I was as if being led by some benevolent spirit walked right up to the stair way and I entered the main hall of the temple with ease. I didn’t have to wait for a long queue. Luckily I was allowed to get in and sat on the carpet with other people (about a hundred altogether). They are paying respect to the big Buddha statue called Phra Bhudddha-Chinnasri and the Urn of the late King Rama 9th being kept at the base of this Buddha statue. The atmosphere was very quiet and still but pulsating with the deep devotion of Thai people who still long for the Late King Rama 9th or King Bhumibol deeply.

เมื่อวานนี้เป็นวันแรกของปีใหม่ ตามธรรมเนียมของชาวพุทธ เราจะไปทำบุญตักบาตรกันที่วัดที่เราศรัทธาและเคารพนับถือ เพื่อเป็นศิริมงคลในปีใหม่ เราได้ไปไหว้พระสามวัดโดยไม่ได้วางแผน เหมือนกับว่ามีสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ชักนำไป ที่น่าแปลกใจคือเราลองแวะไปแถวๆวัดบวรนิเวศน์ฯ ซึ่งไม่คิดว่าจะได้เข้าไปเพราะรถเยอะคนก็มาก แต่พอดีมีรถออกมาจากริมถนน เราจึงได้ที่จอดรถ แสงเริ่มมืดลงและคิดว่าวัดน่าจะปิดประตูใหญ่แล้ว ปกติวัดนี้จะปิดประมาณห้าโมงเย็น เดินไปเรื่อยๆเหมือนมีใครนำทางไป จนไปถึงบันไดที่นำเข้าไปในโบสถ์ ก็ถอดรองเท้าแล้วเดินชึ้นไปและหาที่นั่งได้พอดี ได้กราบพระพุทธชินสีย์ และกราบพระสรีรังคารของในหลวงรัชกาลที่ 9 ที่ถูกบรรจุไว้ที่ใต้ฐานของพระพุทธชินสีห์ ทำให้รู้สึกดีใจและโชคดีมากๆที่บังเอิญได้กราบท่านทั้งสองพระองค์ โดยความราบรื่น สะดวกสบายเหมือนมีใครที่เรามองไม่เห็นเป็นผู้นำทางมานั่นเอง
