Mish Mash Quilting Continued. Putting the pieces (back) together. Needle Work Monday.

in #needleworkmonday6 years ago (edited)

Last Week I posted the beginning of a rag quilt.

A recovery quilt.

I am putting together all of my half baked attempts at distracting from circumstance.

I've continued to patch these scrappy bits of myself together.

I have a tendency to rush towards my next hair brained idea, declaring the previous notion a failure, before giving myself a chance to even start.

I then punish myself with negative self talk for not being able to accomplish small things.

I can't accomplish small things because I have been incredibly unwell.

I didn't give myself the time to get well enough to tackle even one crazy pipe dream, let alone the lists of scheming I draw up for myself when I get even a glimpse of wellness.

Small accomplishments become huge when your capacity shrinks.

A big part of getting better and moving through, I think is going to be a change in attitude.

We have moved our family away from everything they know to have a chance at starting over. It has been challenging to say the least.

It is a chance for me to start over.

To accept who I am without the extrinsic factors that I defined myself by before.

I have learned that job, career, social events, sporting achievement, accolades, and even many relationships, are just window dressing.

Frills and garb and make believe for the ego.

During the time it takes to settle in, I am going to stitch all these pieces of the past 3 years together, forming a blanket / quilt of sorts.

I hope, as I go, that our new life also forms into something that resembles a comfort too.

There are some weird and wonderful and some down right unfortunate features already included, and a whole lot more waiting in the pile.

Yes that is a pepper family, Papa and all the baby peppers, and a slothy too, corn to be added soon.

For those who don't know, @papa-pepper is one of many steemians who have helped me immensely over the years, going above and beyond, in so many ways.

Steemit continues to mean a great deal to me.

The most recent support and generous spirit has come from Jaynie and Zord and the team of #powerhousecreatives.

I wish to extend my gratitude towards the team by imploring you to vote for them in a poll that is currently running for 20,000 STEEM Delegation on offer from @theycallmedan.

They have grand aspiring ideas for the future of the blockchain, and for the little fishies that struggle to sustain themselves in this big ocean.

The delegation would assist them in achieving those aspirations towards rewarding good content rather than over feeding fat wallets.

If you are interested in helping me thank them for their effort, vote for Steemitbloggers in the link below.

I know there are many groups doing amazing things, several of which are niche sub groups within the larger chain.

I have chosen to support this group as it contains members of several of the other specific interest groups. These individuals are working together to represent the best of their communities, to deliver steemit towards a viable reputable future.

As you piece things back together and find comfort in your life you are inspiring others with your drive and will to keep on moving! This memory quilt is a beautiful idea and I’m sure brings on different emotions as you put certain pieces together. I think it’s awesome that the Pepper family has helped you and that you made a piece to represent them, how beautiful ~ 😊

Thanks for sharing this with us as you go.

I love all the different details and textures in this.

Really lovely @girlbeforemirror it's so nice to see tactile fabric arts. It's been awhile since I've viewed any and they really have such a 'homey' feel even when viewed online.

And yet, look how strong you are.

Cant wait to see the finished product. Cool pepper piece :).

Sending all the Love in the world 🙌

I love to be part of this growing artwork. I think a memory blanket is wonderful as you can decide when it is finished or if you like you can add more items. So need for a deadline and critic if you did less than youyourself expected.
Sending you hugs

@girlbeforemirror,

Marg ... somehow I missed this post. My apologies. During the Contest I started dropping balls.

I Love You, Darling.

Sometimes, it's tough to be tough ... and God only knows your circumstances would be enough to break almost anyone.

But you're not anyone. You're Marg ... and for those of us who have come to know you, that is a thing that inspires awe.

That said, Marg or not, when you're feeling like you're at the end of your rope ... know that you have friends. "Misery loves company" is an expression for a reason. Don't be afraid to say, "Friends, I need some company."
