4 o’clocky #NEEDLEWORKMONDAY PROJECT
Some time ago I’ve written about the ‘best’ time to submit a blogpost so you’ll receive worldwide exposure.
I came up with the term 4 o'clocky and I thought this might be a great idea to make a blogpost every day at 4 o'clock local time with this title. Every day I’ll submit a blogpost about something that keeps me busy, a challange, a contest or something important enough to share so Lets blog on and See you every day here at 4 !
This My 4 o’clocky for today...
For those who do not know I sew, I love to do that and I am in a class with 9 woman. We usually make things for ourselves but this was a project from us to a group demented ladies of which one of them is the mother of one of the ladies in My class. We Made this is a tactile / plaids for the demented elderly woman. Its with zippers, buttons and elastics. its said that they become quiet touching the fabrics because they often have the need to pick at something without noticing that they do and want to feel the different fabrics.
I thought it was a great gesture so we All did a part and finally sew them together.
This photograph is from a earlier #needleworkmonday blog, When we as a class went to Utrecht to the biggest market for leather and fabrics. We All bought little cheap bright colored coupons for this project we do together.
We also collect bright colored buttons, because these Will go nicely on the New projects for the elderly.
My hart was All in this fine idea and I love the fact we All pitched in and Made 3 Nice ones. I thought now it is your mum, but When it is My mum they ( me lovely classmates ) Will All pitch in and we would make something Nice too.
I didnt know this before we started the assignment. My friend is a geriatrics nurse and says that demented people are happy with red. That seems to have been scientifically proven.
Maybe an idea for the next one we do, red as the main color. For now this is what we have
After delivering the 3 pieces we had a coffee together and then we went on Our way, its a holiday for two weeks so we dont have class.
Thanks for stopping by fir this fouroclocky , its appreciated
And remember Focus on Being creative instead of Being busy !

What a great idea and thing to make! We would give my Grandmother an old purse with lots of zippers and pockets and little coin purses and the such in it. She would fiddle with it for a long time to get it just right. And she seemed to have better conversations when she was fiddling with it.
Hi dear,
@jamethiel did you know that it is proeven that it helps, so thats why we wantend to make them, i am going to do another blog about it.
What a lovely project, who could have thought that such a simple thing would be helpful to those who are suffering from a memory loss...
I might use this idea for when I'm visiting my aunt, who also seems to be developing a similar problem...
Thanks for sharing!
@vliet this was such a Nice project and o-able she Will love it i am sure
That is one big fabric sale, wife would love it there.
Nice that you have get teoghter o long tasks/things to do
This wassuch a great cause and it work for the pulling never knew that
What a wonderful project to be part of and a lovely gesture of support to your friend and her mom!
This as such a rewarding thing , we all Made 3 squares all different, and Made 9 squared pieces out of the little ones,
I never knew that demention could be like this with these cloths very rewarding
A friend was just telling me that her Aunt tears off tiny pieces of paper off anything - magazines, /tissuesnewspapers paper towels anything she can get ahold of, when she is anxious. When my friend goes to visit the first thing she does is go through and clean up all of the slivers of paper that are all over the place. She would probably benefit from one of your sensory cloths. I will tell her about it.
It can be a squared one but it can also be a long one like a scarf. 20 cm wilde and 1 or 2 meters long .... thats was also a possibility but we wantend the 9 squares because we are with 9 sewing woman. That way with us all making 3 little squares we could make 3 big ones and she can use them everywhere and it was a class project.
The scarf model is easier, she can use zippers, buttons, elastics etc etc.
I can do a blog with possibilities to do on the sensory blankets if your friend wants.

I think that this sort of project would be of interest to many people. I suspect that it is a very helpless feeling when someone that you love has dementia and there is very little you can do to help them. This would be something of a positive effort that might make the person who is creating the sensory squares feel like they are helping
I hope , looking at the replies more people love it
Those are just beautiful.. Are doing this work with the help of your friend or alone?
We all Made three pieces, there are 9 squares in everyone off them, o all together
That is absolutely gorgeous pillow/cusion cover.. Love them..
Those are not pillow cases, they are sensory blankets for people with dementia, its in the blog why
That is such a thoughtful thing to do!
This was such a great group effort, and the outcome is very rewarding
Indeed! It looks great!
I thought the same
Aw, that's awesome! What a worthy project. I didn't know that about red, either!

Wow you so good, those designs are lovely @brittandjosie i wish you more inspiration 🙌🙌
They are for people with dimentia to play with.
This is good to know info in case someone I know ends up with this condition. I know what to make them now. They turned out really cute too. I love the different pieces and colors on each one. Good for you and your group for making such a nice helpful tool for them.
Thanks for sharing this. I learned something new ~ 😊
I learned it too, i didnt know, thankfully nobody In my friends and family life has the codition but to make this with the needle group for the one mum was awsome, and i Will try to do more
