Juniper Piñon Bitters by @ofsedgeandsalt (Juniper Berries + Piñon Pine pitch)

#naturalmedicine brought to you by @ofsedgeandsalt, a nomadic apothecary.

Juniper Berries Juniperus utahensis and communis, Piñon Pine pitch, cone and needle Pinus monophylla, GF vodka, Brandy, Apple Cider Vinegar, Sugar.

A bitters blend that captures two trees that love to grow together in the deserts of the West. It features Juniper berries infused in sugar and tinctured in vodka alongside Piñon Pine pitch collected from fallen cones in the fall during Pine nut season and freshly harvest needles in Spring infused in organic apple cider vinegar and vodka. All collected in small batches along the eastern Sierra of California or in the Great Basin in Nevada.

Juniper has been used by a wide range of cultures across the northern hemisphere for a number of purposes, read our plant profile on its cultural and ecological significance, here.

Piñon Pine has several species and varieties, mainly growing in the Southwest, Rockies and Mexico. Pine pitch, nuts, bark and needles have been used by people worldwide where the tree grows historically. Read our plant profile written on Piñon Pine, here.

Use these bitters in your morning coffee for a sweet conifer addition, drip onto cookies or other sweets, mix into a gin and tonic, or your daily hot tea infusion. This bitters blend can be used the many ways you feel called to connect with these plants in the place where they grow- the desert. I also invite you to familiarize yourself with the original inhabitants of the lands where these specific plants grow, many of whom I mention in the plant profiles cited above.

Limited Quantities Available. When it is sold out, we won’t restock until we make the blend again.
