Flags and rumors
Somebody's national flag has to be the oldest in the world. Ever wonder whose flag could it be?
Denmark, yes, they have every reason to be proud. Their flag, I'm told, is the oldest flag in use to this very day. Their flag is known to have been in existence as far back as 1478. One more feather on the cap: the flag of Denmark has inspired the cross-design of other Nordic countries.
"Vexillology", from the Latin vexillum, is the study of flags. I'm not a vexillologist, but I'll pretend to be a good one just for the day.
A flag, often in rectangular, is a piece of fabric, complete with distinctive design and colors. They're used as a symbol, signalling device and decoration. Will such a day come when people would no longer use flags?
If you talk about flags, you have to talk also about India's Assam. This state is notorious for action scenes in the street, all triggered by this or that person using this or that flag.
ISIS flags, Pakistani flags, Pakistan-like flags, etc., are known to cause social anxiety from time to time. Mostly planted by mischievious creatures for fun in their dull and boring existence. Sometimes, the Hindu right is suspected of planting a controversial flag only to blame the Muslims, in an attempt to garner the Hindu votes.
Of course, the Muslims are not without a problem. A story is told of one Muslim man... He posted online saying that he's a Bangladeshi and challenged the administrative authority to deport him. This goes to show that there are certain individuals whose loyalty lies somewhere else other than their own country.
What is a better prank than hoisting your enemy's flag on a boring day?
I think, Assam is destined for more rumors of hoisting enemy's flags... till the kingdom come. Bizarre but real. They just want to hoist a flag and flex their muscle under it. They love to give their next-door neighbor a dose of anxiety and again.
