Get Some Jazz Steemit #11 - Pat Metheny

in #music6 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemit!

Today on another ”Get Some Jazz Steemit” entry, I’m sharing a Pat Metheny arrangement.

You may say “hey, this is not Jazz”, but we have to understand that a big attribute of jazz music is the possibility to mix and fusion lots of different genres, in an improvisational environment too.

This song, called ”Above the treetops” is a beautiful piece, where Pat arranged a cambodian spiritual song.

I feel this song can take you somewhere else if you listen to it properly, it’s really beautiful and relaxing.

To me, Metheny has always been an unique guitarrist and composer, with his own sound and concept of music, has always managed to mix musicians and music from very different places into conceptual albums.

I first hear Pat when playing with Joni Mitchell in the “Shadows and Lights” album, and was blown away not only by Joni, but by all the band (Jaco Pastorius was there too!), but I will leave Joni for another moment.

I hope you enjoy this one, it’s a short but really enjoyable song.
