If it is, you will find out on Friday when the article is posted (8/4/17) and you will receive a shoutout in the article!! Now, let's get to the match!!

Beauty And The Beast 2017 is a live-action reboot of the animated classic. It first came out in 1991, and is now a tale as old as time. Everyone loves the story of Belle and the Beast, so it is not a surprise how well the live-action reboot did. The original film got a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the 2017 version got a 71%. The 2017 version had a star studded cast-with Emma Watson as Belle, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts. The 1991 version had now Disney Legends Paige O'Hara as Belle and Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts. Let's take a look at which film is better, in this next Marauder's Movie Match!!

~Beauty And The Beast (1991)~

This film introduced us to the independent and well-educated Belle. She is an amazing heroine and a role model to everyone. The music in this movie is phenomenal, and definitely gets stuck in your head. This tale was an adventure from start to finish, with Belle sacrificing herself for her father's freedom. The enchanted castle was a magical place, even if the Beast's sadness was cast over it. I really loved the infamous ballroom scene, and the amazing animation that made it look 3D.

I like how this movie has a female lead that has a personality, and who stands up for what she wants. My favorite enchanted object character is definitely Lumiere. He is very likeable and a funny guy. I like how he teases Cogsworth and does things even if his Master doesn't like it. He is definitely a ladies man, and a charmer. Gaston is another character that is entertaining to watch. He is so full of himself and doesn't actually care for anyone. I feel bad for LeFou because he is so loyal to Gaston, even though Gaston is just using him. I really enjoy the song Gaston because of the hilarious lyrics. It is a great uplifting song.

Belle's father is kind of a joke. He just walks into a random castle and makes himself at home?! That was not the smartest idea. He is also the joke of the town, which is why no one believes his story of a Beast keeping Belle in his castle. At least he is kind to Belle, and does not force her to marry Gaston. In this film, we don't know anything about Belle's mother, but it is assumed that she died.

Belle and the Beast are an amazing couple. We watch as their love unfolds, and turns into something there that wasn't there before. Beast transforms from being cold and miserable to loving and caring. He saves Belle from the wolves, gives her a library, and lets her go back to her father-even if that means he will stay a Beast forever. They have a lot of romantic scenes, one being the snowball scene. I like how they didn't automatically love each other at first. We got to watch them grow and fall in love. This was a lot different than stories such as Cinderella and Snow White. Even Ariel in The Little Mermaid fell in love with Eric for his looks. This film changed the way the love stories are presented, and made it a little more realistic (minus the curse of the Beast and enchanted castle).

Overall, I think Beauty And The Beast (1991) is an animated classic and was very well done. The story was so much different than any other Disney princess movies. It has a strong female lead, and an actual love story. It has humor, fun, and magic. I really enjoy watching this movie again and again. It will definitely stand up to the test of time and be watched for many many many more years to come. Now, Be Our Guest and look at the 2017 version's argument!!

~Beauty And The Beast (2017)~

The 2017 version was kept very similar to the original. It did fix some problems as well. It showed how Belle got the Beast on the horse after he was injured from the wolves attack. It also expanded on many characters' backstories. We know that Belle's mother died from the plague, Beast was twisted from his father-and the servants feel guilty for not stepping in-, Gaston enjoys war and widows(shows how deranged he is), the Enchantress lives in the village as Agatha, the curse made the whole village forget about the castle, and LeFou is gay. This did help the story expand and answered many questions that we all had.

Many scenes were kept shot for shot. When Maurice is first introduced to the Beast, he sees a shadow in the cartoon version. This is kept in the movie when Maurice falls on the ground after picking the rose and we see the Beast's shadow. We were also introduced to many new songs (Evermore, Aria, How Does A Moment Last Forever). I really enjoyed the new music, and I love how the Beast got his own song. Aria was the beginning song for the Beast's lavish party. I really enjoyed this scene because it showed how wealthy, carefree, and arrogant the Beast was. How Does A Moment Last Forever is a great song, and is in the movie twice (Maurice sings it in his house/Belle sings it in Paris).

I loved the enchanted objects in this movie. Lumiere is once again my favorite. Ewan McGregor did a great job and he is still the same charming candlestick. Mrs. Potts is wonderful, and they also make a joke about her being Chip's grandmother (which is what a lot of people thought in the cartoon) when LeFou talks to her. Be Our Guest was an amazing and colorful scene to watch. It took a lot of time and effort to put that scene together, but it was definitely worth it. This scene showed exactly how extravagant Lumiere is and the lengths he will go to in order to show off. Cogsworth is just as uptight as ever, and Chip is still adorable.

Belle and Beast's love story was even more developed in this movie. We still got to see the snowball scene and the amazing ballroom dance. This movie showed how they are both very intellectual (they share a love of Shakespeare) and how they can relate to each other (they are both isolated in their own way). Gaston is an even bigger villain in this movie. We see as the movie progresses, his craziness grows. He is willing to leave Maurice for dead and kill an innocent Beast just for a girl he really doesn't care about. We even see LeFou have a change of heart, and how he knows about Gaston's insanity. I liked how the castle deteriorates from the curse and how the enchanted objects turn into regular household items from the curse.

Overall, this movie did the original justice and was great in live-action form. I loved how the characters were more in depth and the wedding scene at the end. I saw this movie twice in the theater, and loved it both times. I think this movie really helped Disney's confidence of turning their animated films into live action versions. Beauty And The Beast (2017) was a magical tale that stands up on its own.

~Conclusion~

Beauty And The Beast (1991) is the WINNER

While Beauty And The Beast (2017) was very very good, it is not the original. The original came up with the story and music, and the 2017 version is just a retelling of the same thing. The live action version may have fixed some issues and went deeper into character's backstories, but it is still a copy of the 1991 film. The 1991 version is such an amazing and magical tale that is just better than the live action one.
