10 Spooky Facts About Ghostbusters (2016)
Hey movie marauders! Ghostbusters came out July 11, 2016, and is a reboot of Ghostbusters (1984). Ghostbusters (2016) got a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, and made $229.1 million at the Box Office (with a $144 million budget). This film stars an all-female ghostbusting team (Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon). I liked this film, but nothing beats the original. Let's take a look at some fun facts about Ghostbusters (2016)!!
1. The hotel that is used in this movie is the same hotel used in the TV show, American Horror Story.
2. The character of Patty Tolan (played by Leslie Jones) was originally written for Melissa McCarthy. Director Paul Feig changed this because McCarthy has played a similar role in Bridesmaids (2011).
3. In the teaser poster, the number on Holtzmann's (played by Kate McKinnon) proton pack is 2206, referring to the number of Dana Barrett's apartment in Ghostbusters (1984).
4. The sound of the early version of the proton pack failing (it gets crushed by the subway) is the same sound as the failed hyperdrive of the Millennium Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back.
5. Emma Stone turned down a lead role (even though she liked the script) because she did not want to get involved in another series after The Amazing Spider-Man 1&2.
6. Director Paul Feig said that the first cut of the movie was 4 hours and 15 minutes.
7. Ghostbusters (2016) is the most diskliked trailer on YouTube.
8. During the scene where Abby becomes possessed by the ghost, the metal tube that Patty has is actually an exterior piece on the backside of the Delorean in Back To The Future.
9. Kevin (played by Chris Hemsworth) says "Ghostbusters, what do you want!" on the answering machine, like Janine in Ghostbusters (1984).
10. Near the end of the movie, a containment unit says "D. Barret" on its monitor, referring to Dana Barrett (played by Sigourney Weaver) in Ghostbusters (1984).
