10 Magical Facts About Doctor Strange (2016)

in #movies7 years ago (edited)

Hello movie marauders! Doctor Strange was added to the MCU October 20, 2016. This movie features magic and has an Inception vibe to it. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Dr. Stephen Strange, whom after a car accident cannot use his hands. He finds a way to use his hands again, but as a sorcerer. This film shows the more magical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Don't worry Doctor Strange fans! Doctor Strange will be back in Avengers: Infinity War-which will be released May 4, 2018. Let's take a look at some fun facts about the Doctor Strange movie!!

1. Director Scott Derrickson is a big fan of Doctor Strange, so he used his own money on a concept video to send to Marvel so he could direct the film.

2. Rachel McAdams (who plays Christine Palmer) was authentically frightened when the mop handle fell in the broom closet.

3. When they were shooting the movie, Benedit Cumberbatch (who plays Doctor Strange) actually went into a comic store and bought a Doctor Strange comic in full costume.

4. Benedict Cumberbatch originally couldn't take the role because shooting began when he was committed to playing Shakespeare's Hamlet. The release date was pushed back from July 2016 to November 2016, so he was able to accept the role (the second choice was Joaquin Phoenix).

5. Chiwetel Ejiofor (who plays Baron Mordo) is a 5th degree black belt in real life, so fighting is easy for him.

6. James Gunn (director/writer of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1&2) filmed Stan Lee's cameo in Doctor Strange, as well as in Vol. 2, and another movie that he did not share. Gunn said that Stan Lee's cameo is 1 of the 4 cameos that was filmed in one day itself.

7. The scene where the Cloak of Levitation wipes Doctor Strange's tear was suggested by Benedict Cumberbatch to the crew-who liked it enough to include it in the film.

8. Doctor Strange chooses a Jaeger watch before he has his car accident. Tony Stark also chose to wear a Jaeger watch in Iron Man 2 before he became self-destructive at his birthday party.

9. Benedict Cumberbatch also plays the villain Dormammu-he recommended it to director Scott Derrickson.

10. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi directed the mid-credits scene with Thor.
