10 Facts About Dunkirk (2017) That You Don't Know About
Hello movie marauders!! Dunkirk was released July 21, 2017. It is directed by Christopher Nolan, and got a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. I have heard a lot of positive reactions to this movie, but have not yet seen it (But I really want to). Dunkirk is based on a true story about World War II. This article contains NO spoilers, so you don't have to worry if you haven't seen the movie yet. Before we get into the article, I would like to thank all of my 29 followers! 1. More than 50 boats were used for the movie, which is the most that has ever been put on film.
2. Director Christopher Nolan said that casting Harry Styles (who plays Alex) was like casting Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight (which Nolan directed) because everyone underestimated both of them.
3. Dunkirk is Nolan's first film to be based off of historical events.
4. Nolan decided to have young/unknown actors play the soldiers because the Dunkirk evacuation had inexperienced and young soldiers--according to first hand accounts Nolan read.
5. Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas (his wife), and a friend went from England to Dunkirk on a boat--just like how the people did during the Dunkirk evacuation (the ride took 19 hours).
6. Dunkirk (the title) is split between 3 different colors--dark blue, orange, and sky blue to show the plot of sea, land, and air.
7. Christopher Nolan flew in the Spitfire--the plane in the film--to help him film the aerial scene correctly and make it more authentic.
8. Nolan wrote Dunkirk, which makes it the 3rd movie he has written himself.
9. Dunkirk is Nolan's shortest movie, at 106 minutes.
10. Nolan made Dunkirk because of when he sailed to Dunkirk, France in 1992 with his now wife Emma Thomas.
