Just Be There (An Original Poem)
Just Be There
You seem him stirring
his coffee continuously.
You see his hands fidgeting.
You see how his eyes
wander everywhere
except into your eyes.
And then you hold
his hand and ask,
"Are you okay"?
And he looks at you,
laughs and says
"Of course. Everything is fine".
And somehow you have
to believe what he is saying.
Because that's how he is.
He can't let you get sad by
telling you everything but
he can drown in his troubles.
Because saving himself
is something he gave up
on long back.
So the next time you
feel he isn't okay,
just be there as a
life jacket for him and
don't let him drown.
Don't ask questions,
don't say anything.
Just be there,
because at times
that's more than enough.
