Death: what happens when we die? [Dabbing with a Mage episode 83]

in #life7 years ago

What happens after we die has been a mystery that the world over has been thoroughly intrigued with since the beginning of time. There are a multitude of theories and ideas to pick from, but nobody truly knows what happens. In this episode I briefly cover some of my own thoughts about what happens when we die.

I agree with you generally @alchemage. First off, I believe in the alchemical process, the cycle of breakdown, and rebirth, aging, and completion. It seems to me that the Nigredo, death, does indeed return our Self or Soul back to the great ocean, or as I like to think of it, the great Bucket-o'-Souls®.

You're right, nobody alive knows what happens when you're fully and surely dead, but some people have also been to the brink (NDEs) and come back with some interesting information. What if part of you does actually persist, whatever bit of your mind that makes you actually you, and carries over into your soul. Who know, maybe we're lost to time.

Good philosophizing, maybe do a bit more editing on the video though. Cheers m8

I subscribe mostly to the Alchemical path as well as i have found it to line up most with my own personal philosophies.

I think that the part of us that does persist beyond death is the collection of experiences gained, and the infinitely continued effects of your cause as a subjective entity within the closed system of existence. The gained experiences would not be viewed individually as your own unique experience but as the experience of the grand consciousness. But yup, nobody knows, we could persist in another form less condensed than what we have while alive. ;)

Thanks for the comment and compliments. I do not know anything about editing outside trimming lol.

Cheers. :)

Hi @alchemage, nice to hear your thoughts on this topic. I disagree. It seems to me that the small sliver of consciousness that is us, was packed into a box that we call bodies. The box has five holes poked into it, so that's all we can perceive right now, is those five senses. Sound, sight, touch, smell, taste, along with the sum of our limited subjective experiences. Then when we die, our friends and family lose a loved one. Yet, at the same time, the source of all life, or the ocean if you will, it gains a lifetime of experiences, but so do we. When we die, we lose the world, but remember that we were never truly of it, but rather we created it, and that we were everyone who has ever lived upon it.

P.S. You are hereby excommunicated by the authority of Pope Imbibe V of the venerable Church of Quantum Distillations.

Heretic!

@thoughts-in-time, i appreciate your views and they are pretty similar to mine. That small sliver is part of a more grand tapestry so to say. The sliver gains experience to paint the grand tapestry and unfold its conceptualization as life. Imo there is no I, there is no You - all there is is Us. We are all one experiencing duality in order to gain perspective of self.

Thanks for commenting. :)

P.S.
As a Pope myself, I excommunicate everyone en masse making nobody excommunicated, then declare myself excommunicated.

That's alright man, you still have a smile on your face, and it's been a rough week for me as well. Your gratefulness is testimony to your magic skills.

The existence of "one source powering everything" can be experienced in altered states of consciousness, for those who have no idea what you are referring to. While we can not be 100% certain about that state being the exact same as death, there are good hints towards that end. And it moves the likelihood for life ending completely at the point of death downwards.

When you see how outside and inside interact with each other, feed back on each other and are ultimately inseparable sides of the same coin - the illusion of having a body apart from nature (a body that is existing in opposition to its surroundings) becomes an insufficient notion to explain life and what this place is. It's like having witnesses a connection that is usually buried.

The drop in the ocean analogy you mentioned still works very well ;)
It might be that the drops never leave the ocean at any time, only that we perceive them to stand on their own as the background of the totality fades in our perception so that we can get lost in all our human mixups, problems and challenges - for a while. Before we remember and get back to the ground of being.

Your vid prompted many ideas here, thanks for the inspiration <3

Nice thought Sir !

Science can predict what happens after you die. First, as parts of your neural net starts to shut down due to oxygen deprivation, some zonal potential will start to decay. Random regions will fire due to inhibitory regions shutting down while other networks resort to emergency prevention formation. As death takes over more and more regions (assuming the heart has stopped working for a while now) parts of the mind quickly transition between shock, quickly bypassed into euphoria as the body compensates for the shock by releasing all the enzymes and ions in a last ditch effort to function.

Nice thoughts! Me I am unsure I think there is something more to our soul but then again think it goes back into the universal energy. I am in two minds; where I consider our body to be a vessel for our soul, guess I still exploring that one. So in a sense can't have an opinion on death until I have an opinion on life. The road of discovery is an amazing one :) 💯🐒

I believe that when your that you have the same position and experience then the time you’ve had before you were born.

If I say from a physics standpoint : It seems as our energy is redistributed after we die.
We know that 'Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It simply changes states'
We get energy through the consumption of food, which gives us chemical energy. That chemical energy is then transformed into kinetic energy that is ultimately used to power our muscles.
In death, your atoms become repurposed. Those atoms and that energy, which originated during the Big Bang, will always be around. Therefore, your “light,” that is, the essence of your energy — not to be confused with your thoughts or actual consciousness — will continue to echo throughout space until the end of time.
