"A Blast from the Past."
I discovered these old radios at the Caboolture Historical Museum, Queensland, Australia. The variety was interesting and I couldn't help but be amazed at just how far technology has advanced from the days when these radios were the means by which people relied on to receive news, both local and abroad.
When I look at this old fashioned technology, I am reminded of WW 11 movies when families all over the world gathered around their radios (the focal point of their living rooms or dining rooms) tense, alert and fearful of receiving the often devastating updates of the war, yet needing to know the outcome.

Contrary to learning negative news, radios such as these brought countless hours of happiness to people as they listened to music of their era and became totally absorbed in stories, fictional and non-fiction some of which were made into long running series. It brought families together and gave them plenty of material for discussions and debates. How times have changed!

What a great collection! They remind me of my grandpa sitting smoking his pipe and listening to the Chicago Cubs baseball game!
Haha......my husband got a little nostalgic looking at the radios too and he remembers (when he was very young) listening to a radio series called, "Life with Dexter." He wouldn't miss an episode and even remembers it was on from 6.30 - 7pm on a Monday night. I'm glad these images triggered some happy memories for you Melinda.
