Hauke in the studio in Lisbon

in #introduceyourself6 years ago (edited)

hello steemians!

this is me drawing in our open door art-studio "Atelier49" here in Lisbon

atelier1.jpg

most of the time i have the door open and people can come in and watch me draw and of course purchase original artwork and prints. :)

apart from weird monsters most of the time i draw small cartoons about Lisbon.
specially about the famous yellow tram.

I have fun drawing this little trams for more than 20 years and i created thousands of them... an uncountable number of happy little trams out there somewhere in the world...
and now there is another one !

tram and me.jpg
sorry about the bad quality of the image but on the other photos i looked even worse !

i live and work in Lisbon for over twenty years and 4 years ago- together with my friend Gui (she took the photos) we built up this small open door art studio.

we used to sell our drawings out on the street
but it is getting almost impossible to get a license these days
so we focus on the studio and sell prints to several shops here in Lisbon.

digital paintings i do at home during the night -
but during the day you can find me here in the studio in Rua do Salvador 49.

if you are in Lisbon or plan to travel there - come and visit us !

i will post more stuff from the studio in the future. :)
have a splendid day,

Hauke

HI @papersmell, as you may know @trincowski featured you in this week's @pifc's Pay It Forward contest.

Having a shop must be much nicer than being on the street, then you're not limited by the weather. Of course unexpected days off are kind of nice. You drawings are neat, kind of whimsical :) Can tell you enjoy what you do!!

tryskele - thank you very much for your kind comment !
selling art outside was way more lucrative and life was simple and free. i love freelancing and working in the studio but sometimes miss the easy times ... :D i will make a blog post about it some day .

Maybe on good days you can be outside? or are they that strict to where you would still need a permit in front of your own shop?

yeah it´s pretty strict nowadays and i´m to old to hide from the cops... :D

I can't get over with your amazing art style, may I know what that art style is called?

hello carl.angelo ! thank you very much glad you like my drawings ! i think i would call this comic-style. making a line -drawing and then coloring it with watercolor is a very quick way to make an attractive image.

What a fantastic introduction. I am Portuguese but I live far from the capital.

Benvindo ao SteemIt! 😃

olá ! muito obrigado trincowski ! se um dia vieres para lisboa faz uma visita ao nosso atelier ! :)

OK, combinado.

muito obrigado pelo teu suporte trincowski !!

Hey Hauke, that tram is gonna hit that old lady and the cat on the sidewalk! I wonder how you have been making and selling it for 20 years when it is not safe? 😂

Kidding aside, I like the fun on the cartoon drawing. Also with the other drawings on your wall. The comic in them brings smiles to the viewers. 😊

I found your post through @trincowski who featured it here: Pay it Forward Curation Contest.

Welcome to Steemit! Keep drawing and Steeming... 👍

hey macoolette ! thank you so much for your encouraging comment- much appreciated!

You're welcome. 😊

almost forgot to say - some streets here in lisbon are really very narrow and the tram seems to almost touch the walls ... and it often feels like a rollercoaster because lisbon got 7 hills. but i promise the old lady and the cat are safe! :)

I haven't seen it yet personally but I heard that we also have that kind here in the Philippines wherein the train ways are very narrow. I think our government should do something about this because it is not safe. I know we have a law to maintain easement spaces between infrastructures and public roads so that should address the issue. The easement is 2 meters from the lot boundary for houses so that should make at least 4-meter distance between houses if we consider the easement on both sides. How much more with road infrastructures? I am not sure but the problem I see is the implementation of such law because it is not being followed all the time. And our government agencies fall short of their control. Anyway, enough about that...

Back to the drawing, I am glad that the old lady and the cat are safe. 😃

hey viking-ventures - thank you so much ! it´s very awesome and rewarding to be in direct contact with people- but ofc sometimes i have to close the door to be alone and able to work more concentrated. and some stuff i still do at home. trincowski is sure working well !!! awesome ! thaaanks !

hello @papersmell... what a nice intro and welcome to Steemit. heey.. I like that tellow tram, have you made it into a video for dtube or youtube and ask someone to make a kid song for it? it must be wonderful.. and good luck with your art-studio, it's neat ... well, I have been in an art studio before, and your studio is the neat one.

hello cicisaja - thanks for your lovely comment ! i will post a video soon - and i love the idea making a song ! (!) all the best for you ! and thank you so much !

edit : i love the idea of the song- but i wont be the one singing it for sure - otherwise people would run away ! :D

Well.. though the driver looks like you😉 from here.. I think you should sing one part.. for example for the sound of the horn if it has one 😂 anyway.. what's so special about that yellow tram for you anyway... ?
