Just Joined Steemit! :)

Hey guys! Before I jump into the whole "about myself" I'd like to say hello to everyone in this community in my first ever official post! I just joined a day or two ago (can't remember since I've been swamped with work in real life). I'm still learning the ropes here but I'm a very quick learner and it won't be long before you start seeing my name pop up on help forums, helping new people in the near future ^_^

Anywhooo.....

Hey guys! My name is Alia Ilma Eva and I'm 21 years old (I will be 22 in about 6 months from now on Jan 4th). Even though I look younger than 2 of my sisters, I'm the eldest sibling of both of them and 1 brother (who is the youngest). I am a part-time writer for the website http://www.mangobaaz.com and I'm also a business student and currently studying in my second year (2 more years till I graduate yayay). I used to be a very active blogger a few years ago but I had to stop due to writer's block as well as due to studies. I still have that ancient blog to call my own at http://www.lifeisntfunny.wordpress.com though. Now that I have a little more time to myself, I plan on becoming an active member of the steemit community as well as going back to the one thing I've always loved doing: writing.

I am a little rusty with my writing skills but it won't be long before I can start writing my poetry (or just generally ranting about issues in the world) so you guys can read and enjoy as well! I really do hope you will enjoy my content!

Coming back to a little more about me, I'm also a firm believer in the "Law Of Attraction." Now I know many people might scoff at me for this but when you understand what the essence of this law of attraction is, it'll make more sense to you! To sum it up, as long as you have a positive outlook on life, good things WILL happen to you. If you are just generally mopey and have this attitude where you hate the world then you can't exactly ever be happy. Be grateful for the things you have rather than the things you don't and I can guarantee you from personal experience that you will notice a HUGE difference in your lives!

I'm sorry I keep deviating from the main topic at hand: About myself!

I'm actually in the back seat of a car being driven to my uni so my post is all over the place. Excuse the lack of make-up but I was in a bit of a rush today :/

So anyways, I'd like to describe my hobbies next. My hobbies include reading, writing, painting, kickboxing, community service and trying all sorts of different foods! One day I want to visit all the countries and try all the different foods all over the world. It's actually on my bucket list :P

I'd like to elaborate on each of the hobbies if that's okay :P

Reading is my favorite past-time. Give me a good book, some cookies and hot cocoa and I'll disappear for a day or so. I'm currently reading "The Palace Of Illusions." It's an AMAZING book if you'd like to try it out too! I started reading it yesterday and I should be able to finish reading it by the end of this week (since I only read before bed time nowadays due to uni). I'll be writing a nice little review on the book as well and hopefully I can get a few more of you interested in it! :)

I think my love for writing can be seen in my blog right here: http://www.lifeisntfunny.wordpress.com . I know there aren't a lot of posts on there but the very few posts all have my raw emotions in them. I describe exactly how I am feeling with my poetry or rants on that blog. I mostly write when I'm upset or depressed (more on that later in a different post) so I guess one of the reasons I haven't had the chance to write much is because I've been exceptionally happy these past couple of months!

Moving on to painting. I've actually always loved to paint. It's really therapeutic and honestly I feel like everyone should get their hands dirty every once in a while and let your inner Picassos out :P
Here's an example of something I finished painted just yesterday. It took me about 3 days to paint this due to university which required me to quit this and get to my academic work but I FINALLY managed to finish this! :D :

Moving on to kickboxing, I started it because I wanted to do something to get fit but at the same time also learn how to defend myself. It is my firm belief that ALL WOMEN should be able to fight back in case something happens. I hate the thought of being helpless or relying on my muscular guy friends to do anything for me. I hate the concept of relying on anyone whether it's guys or girls. That being said, kickboxing was the solution to those problems. Not only has it helped me become more confident in public, but it has also made me feel fresh and full of energy. Nowadays I feel like I have way more energy to give to everything else around me! This is a picture from a couple days ago when I went to the gym with a close friend of mine. We have alternate days of kickboxing and Zumba :

As for my love for community service, I think that one is pretty obvious. There's no better feeling than going to bed at night, knowing you made a difference by either helping or putting a smile on someone's place. I usually volunteer at Old homes because I love EVERYONE there and I request each and every one of you guys to go to your closest orphanages or old age homes and visit the grandmothers and grandfathers there. Listen to their stories. Talk to them and you'll just melt at how excited they get when they start telling you stories about their lives of when they were younger. You'll chuckle and smile with them as they talk about their good memories. You'll want to hug them and tell them it's all going to be okay when they tell you about how their own children have abandoned them at old age homes. Believe it or not, it's one of the most humbling experiences you could have!

So I guess I've rambled on for long enough :P
This was just a quick intro about me. Kind of like meeting minutes if that makes sense :P
