In the past 2 months, I've been trying to see how to contribute to the Steem ecosystem to make Steem 2019 great for all of us. We all know that in the last 6 months there has been less engagement and many newbies are leaving Steem because they do not have a proper path to succeed in this big maze of Steem.

For this reason, I have been trying to find a way to meet the needs of the newbies, thus starting the "Be A Mentor" program.

1. Mentor Program has officially begun!

In the last 2 weeks, I spent time talking to different owners of the 50 dAPPS to see how to collaborate with them to promote their dApps using the mentorship program.

Since I cannot start the program all at once with the dApps, I have chosen to begin with the Partiko dApp first.

The Partiko dApp offers a lot of incentives to get the newbies up and running:

• There is 0% cut of their earnings when they use the app
• Partiko gives away 3000 free Partiko Points as a reward for downloading the app
• The newbies can exchange their Partiko Points for upvotes which is something very needed for beginners
• Beginners have very little Steem Power, therefore they are eligible to receive 15 Steem Power delegation from Partiko by following the rules in this post.

The Partiko app also has a referral program for the mentors to earn extra Partiko points when they get people to sign up through their referral links. This is one of the ways Partiko rewards the mentors.

2. The First Team of 10 Partiko Mentors Recruited

I've recruited the following 10 awesome Partiko mentors to be the trail blazers for this 'Be A Mentor' program.

It took about 2 weeks to recruit these awesome mentors.

Since I want the best mentors for the Partiko app, I wrote a post to the Partiko community inviting Partiko lovers to apply for the mentor position.

From experience, I knew that to get the best people on board, handing in their applications is the best way to screen the person's suitability.

I was actually quite humbled by their responses and desire to want to mentor newbies on board.

As a result, ten people got accepted in this first round of "Be a Partiko Mentor.

Let's meet the 10 awesome partiko mentors. In order to make it easier for you to get to know these mentors, I put them in the following table format.

Under these columns, you will see their usernames and also their application posts links. You can click on each application link to learn more about the mentors. They are really awesome.

As you go through each application, you will feel their enthusiasm. This is really motivating and fantastic for newbies.

4. Role of a Successful Partiko Mentor

The Role of a successful Partiko Mentor come in 4 Stages:

Stage 1. Reach out to potential newbies and welcome them! The mentors need to spend some time to search for the newbies using the #introduceyourself or #introducemyself tags.

Stage 2. Introduce Partiko app to newbies. Or if they have friends who are not using Partiko app yet, they can also be their target of outreach.

Stage 3. Guide them. Download the Partiko app & earn up to 3300 Partiko points. Actually each newbie gets 3000 Partiko points for downloading the app, so the mentor needs to guide the newbie to earn another extra 300 Partiko points in this first month. From thereon, the newbie should be able to know how to use the Partiko app effectively after this one month's guidance.

Stage 4. Create a Post before Feb 10, 2018 of their Mentoring Work.

5. Initial Feedback from our mentors in the 1st Week

Our Mentors are required to search out for 'potential' newbies, so they need to do some screening process when reading the newbies introductory posts. We only want to spend time to help those newbies who add value to the Steem blockchain. All our mentors needed to spend a bit of time on this before the actual mentoring process begins.

When the mentor finds a suitable newbie, he will make comments under the newbie's introductory post.

As you can see, the newbie does appreciate the warm welcome given to them. This is the first step of further engagement down the road.

I only picked a few screenshots to document what the mentors are doing as they recruit their students. I believe that our mentors turned the platform into a warm atmosphere in the last 2 weeks as they welcome the newbies.

7. Feedback from Mentors in the 2nd week

A week has gone by since our mentors have gone out there to welcome the newbies.

A few days ago, I wrote a post inquiring how they are moving along in the mentoring program.

It's great to see them greeting the newbies & meeting each other out there in the introductory posts. As you can see, it is not easy but nevertheless we will overcome all hurdles to make Steem 2019 great by putting in more engagement to help the newbies grow.

Actually, when the newbies grow, we also grow too.

It works in a 2 way direction.

6. Rewards From Our Sponsors to these Mentors

Mentoring work is not an easy task yet a necessary one to help the Steem Community grow.

• For this first round, each mentor goes out to mentor up to 5 students.
• Even getting 1 student is a good start.
• But we also want to encourage building up more students, so we cap the number to 5 students.
• 5 is a good number as it is not too much and not too few.
• I also don't want this to be a long dreaded process so we can see how these mentors do in the next 2 weeks, to see whether they are able to reach out to 5 newbies.
• As you can see, the rewards given by the Partiko owner is great. The rewards increase by increment as the mentor builds up more students. Mentoring 5 newbies will give the mentor the highest rewards.

Total Rewards the mentor can get from @Partiko: 15 Steem

So a successful mentor can earn a total of 20 Steem!

7. Next Event - February 10, 2019

On Feb 10, 2019, the mentors will give us a report of their experiences in this first round of mentorship program.
