I am delighted to make this comprehensive report of my activities for the Month of August which ended 2 days ago. Before I begin, I want to say a big thank you to @steemitblog for appointing me Country representative for Nigeria. It is indeed a huge honor. I was appointed Country representative for Nigeria on 12th August, 2020 and was announced through this post. This report will show what i have done in the month of August and also serve as my entry for our monthly Country Representative Challenge

1. Recruitment and retention.

As the founder of @steemalive community, recruiting, mentoring and retaining new users is my primary objective. To that end, I have personally recruited new users and motivated our community members to duplicate the effort by bringing their friends. In one of our weekly meetings, recruitment and retention was broadly discussed and we passed a community resolution that each member should bring at least one friend each week. So far, it is working.

We have an overall retention rate of up to 85%, for both old and new members. Personally, I work really hard to ensure my direct and indirect recruits stay back and remain active on the platform. It is work in progress and we hope to increase the recruitment and retention rate.

2. Marketing

I make serious efforts personally to spread the word and get new people. For example, I recently designed a flyer which is currently being shared to young people in public places and wherever people are found. This has helped create awareness For Steemit in our community and resulted in more recruits. I also customized the flyer with the details of our community members so that they can also use it to spread the word.

I also run Fabebook sponsored ads decretely to avoid being banned. There are millions of People on Facebook and my free blogging classes help participants to join Steemit and start creating content on the platform. Here is a link to my last sponsored ad on August 13.

I have not run a more recent campaign because I want to solve a bigger challenge - training facility where people can come and be mentored. I am planning for a very big campaign once our training facility is ready - very soon.

Our banner will be ready in the next few days and I have arranged to hang it inside a Main Post office compound in my city where hundreds of people visit each day and can see it.

We hope to use other marketing strategies to reach more people and bring them to Steemit.

3. Community Activity and Mentoring

Through @steemalive, I have been able to build a small active group of friends that support each other. I run weekly contests, we have weekly meetings on Whatsapp apart from the chats that happen everyday. We support members in their struggles because we want to build mutual relationships that go beyond steemit. Engagement is a goal we have achieved and we want to do more.

I also do personal mentoring for new and old members. All team leaders have been encouraged to complete their achievement posts and help their members to do that too. I also created more teams, so that it will be easy for smaller groups to adequately support each other. @steemalive currently has more than 200 subscribers and up to 70 are active.

All together, I am using the @steemalive community as a vehicle to achieve more as a Country Representative.

4. Plans for September

I recently made a post in the community asking for support to help us rent a training facility. Although the intended result was not realized, I kept on with other plans to raise funds for the project. We cannot go to Radio stations and media to talk about a business that has no office or training center.

So I am pleased to announce that I finally landed a deal to use a facility for training/office from now till December. As I write, work is ongoing in the facility to make it suitable as a training center. This will give us the capacity to widen our marketing efforts since we will have a place to gather people and mentor them. More details will come about the facility in the coming days.

Conclusion

I may not be able to show all the efforts I make as a country representative. But the results I have heard in the community and progress of recruits speak volume. I hope to continue welcoming new and old users from Nigeria, connecting with them, and making Steemit a lucrative opportunity for Nigerians.
