ProWritersHub (W6): Getting help from extended family members - My story
Introduction
It's my delight to participate in (w6) Prowirtershub contest organized by @steemalive. I know many of my fans has missed my article a lot. I missed yours too. In this challenge, I want to share my experience with you concerning how I have received help or not from extended family members. Though army age, I don't know what is Aunt or Uncle because I have received help from them before. Enjoy the full details here 👇
Have I received help before from extended family members such as Aunt's or Uncle?
Capital No since I was born here on Earth, I know that I have Aunt's and Uncles but have not gotten any help from them. Apart from my immediate family members who has been by my side in all times of my distress. My Uncle's and Aunt's don't even know my where about. Infact, I have been totally forgotten by them all.
How my extended family members refused to help me.
About 5 years ago when I was suffering in the village. One of my Uncle's from my mother's side visited our home. He actually had a problem that made him to leave his house to come and stay with us for some weeks before he went back. This my Uncle in question is known as Mr Silvester Nwanedo. He has money because he has some grown up children who stays outside the country. But guess what? For the weeks he stayed with us, I never tasted his food. And since he left till today, he haven't called my line. My greatest shock is that he left without giving me 1-NGN
My challenge then
My challenge then was to start up a business. Even to eat was a problem to me. So, seeing my Uncle in my father's house, I thought he will be if help to me. But he didn't.
Do I think he is capable of helping me but refused?
Oh yes he is able and capable of helping me but refused. I said this because I overheard his conversation over the phone with one of his sons who stays overseas. Apart from that, his own business is running smoothly.
Because of how I was treated by extended family members, how do I see them?/ What I wish them.
The truth is that I have moved on with my life. I don't even remember them. So, they're not my enemies because whenever we had something like burial, all of us still meet together as one family. In other words, I still see them as my family members. And I still wish each and every one of them success and good health in all there endeavors.
Do I think I can survive without the help of extended family members?
I have already survived without their help and still surviving. The only person I really need his help is Jehovah God not a human being. Because with him, all my paths will be straight.
Conclusion
Seriously, I don't believe in Uncle and Aunt's. I believe in God and myself alone. That's why am surviving. And God has been using poeple I don't know to help me. I want to invite @okere-blessing, @uduakabraham and @ogechukwu-martha to participate.
Such a terrible experience with this particular uncle. Am really sorry. Experiences like yours are so common. Some uncles do not actually want to see you succeed, although I have heard of uncles and aunts that are nice, but they are few. I am very happy that you are making it now even without their assistance.
I have uncles like that. But one thing I promised myself is that I will be the change I want. What I mean is that I wont like to behave like some of my uncles, now that I am an uncle to my sisters kids.
Am happy to have you as my Boss. Though I haven't met you in person. But you have been of so much help for me. May Jehovah bless and keep you for me and others who are benefiting from you.
The little I can do, I dont refrain from doing it. I want to re-write the bad history of uncles. Am already helping my sisters kids in little ways.
There is this uncle of mine, he has more than 10 pieces of land. He has built a standard duplex years ago. Even in this COVID hardship, he completed another 1 story building. But I remembered when I went to ask for assistance, when I lost my former office. In fact after the visit, he made me feel that I should be helping him financially.
Since then, I forgot the address of his house. That was early 2020

Only one of my uncles, of more than 8 of them asks you how far. Not that he will give you money ooo. He will give you hope. He has more than hope to give, but he always gives hope. Hahahaha. @precious123

The Bible said we should cast all our burdens to him and he will give us rest. I really felt for you when you said My challenge then was to start up a business. Even to eat was a problem to me. My sister God is doing his great work in your life we should not depend on any body we should focus our trust in him. for me I will change the bad stories of uncles and aunties in future

Such a terrible and wicked extended family especially that your uncle who came and spent days with you people without given you a kobo when he has the money, that is totally heartlessness .
But at times not receiving help from family members is good because it will help you move on with your life just the way you did, assuming they always give to you, you would have been depending on them instead of hustling
You are right my dear. Though since my life, I don't like depending on anyone. I think if I did get a little support, it would have helped me to go far before now. But no wahala, God is faithful.

This is a terrible experience for you. Stories like this comes up more often which makes me feel bad, why would someone who has refuse to lend a helping hand when needed? Like you said, it is God who is in control.

My dear, in life help can come in so many ways. Even encouraging words is help to me.for that your uncle who didn't help you, maybe, he did not know how much you needed his help or he is heartless.

Issues like this keep happening daily. Somehow, I feel like when there is no enough love and strong bond between siblings, their relationship with their nieces and nephews will suffer.
Family should be everything. The people to look up to when in need. It's sad that you had to experience this. But I'm glad that you have moved beyond your past.
