Effect's of sugar on Our Mood.

in #health6 years ago (edited)

The next few posts I will produce will be all based on sugar, to spread more awareness of the dangers it has to our health. It is a huu-uge subject, and so must be dissected into different aspects concerning it. Here are the things I can think of that can and should be written about.

  • Mood & Psychological Effects
  • Hunger & Energy Levels.
  • Slavery & Modern Industry
  • Bad Sugars, Refined & Better Sugars
  • Daily Amounts & Examples of Food Sugar Amounts
  • Skin & Teeth Problems, Diabetes, and Sickness .
  • Addiction & Depression
  • Alternative Healthy Sweeteners

Mood

In today's society is very easy to be (unknowingly) witnessing the effects our high sugar eating habits of the people around us. Its quite easy to see the ones struggling to get out of bed in the mornings, and are plodding still with eyes closed among the commuting traffic of the daily busy body's. Over weight people who don't smile, but instead get a buzz from eating something sweet which creates smiley thoughts for short a period of time that swirl in the mind or the teenager who feels groggy in the mornings and wont get up to go to school. When we eat sugar, it reacts exactly the same on the brain as cocaine does which has been proven to be true on rats already. If you see it as it is, we are all coke addicts. Ok cocaine would certainly have a much stronger effect on us if we tried it, but the brain still reacts as it would if we had snorted cocaine.

So its like taking cocaine and feeling no real strong effects from it

The High And Then the Crash

When we eat too much added sugars our brain gets so hyperactive that it uses a lot of mental power. Not forgetting we do still have just use of the old part of our brain that is still from the prehistoric ages. Can you imagine, a caveman that found the cocoa plants and managed to create cocaine from it? We are still using the front part of out brains and this is just for keeping us alive, and we set it in overdrive each time we take to much sugar, causing a panic and get stressed, even unknowingly to us.

People do have different tolerance levels to sugar, like any other Drug, and this means that most don't really feel the "up" of the sugar, and then just believe they didn't sleep enough when they wake up and still feel very tired - which is actually the come down from the sugar taken the day before. People are suffering more commonly from anxiety and sugar isn't helping. After the brain has exhausted its self your mood is most likely grumpy and a deep feeling of hunger as the sugary foods are just empty calories

In human nutrition, the term empty calories applies to foods and beverages composed primarily or solely of sugar, fats or oils, or alcohol-containing beverages. An example is carbonated soft drinks. These supply food energy but little or no other nutrition in the way of vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, or essential fatty acids. Fat contributes nine calories per gram, ethanol seven calories, sugar four calories. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) advises, "A small amount of empty calories is okay, but most people eat far more than is healthy."[1] The phrase is derived from low nutrient density, which is the proportion of nutrients in a food relative to its energy content.[2] sourced from link.

How often do you eat these items below? Or buy them for other people?

Of course you eat these Items above on a regular bases, they are used as rewards, or comfort foods to satisfy the "sweet tooth".

-I'm no Doctor, but even a plank of wood could determine an occurring pattern here

I remember very well that I just had no energy to get out of bed and I learnt since a while the late night snacks from the gas station whilst smoking joints in the evening was the result of a zombified Dan, with my mother having waking me on several occasion's in one hour - even to make sure I woke up for work after I left school.

When I was younger I would go through stages of liking different cereals and most and if not all of which where made by Kellogg's. Lets not even go there hey. I sure remember how awake I felt though after a cup of black tea and 2 spoons of sugar, the added sugar in the tea being already half the daily ok suggested amount for a kid. Then there was the cereal also packed with sugar, and I would also add white sugar on top of the cereals!
I had depression from the ages of 13 to 18 coming on and off for periods of time and for sure the amount of sugar I took was very high and then I was always tired especially in the mornings (before eating some sugar). Now as Ive seen more years of life, I also see it in other people and the same mood swings and low energy levels occur in symbiosis to the amount of sugars the people are eating.

The moods of children can be seen much more clearer as examples because adults can hide much more and suppress more feelings than a child would. I don't have kids, to but I do see how my nephews were when younger - quite a pain to deal with and that's how I was with my mum also. The clearest example is of the child when denied an ice cream or something sweet, how "off the rails" they go at something we think is so trivial. From the kids view, they will get a huge rush from it and the mind remembers the last time how the dopamine's exploded in the brain and they felt very euphoric, and will this memory will cause the child to have a screaming fit if it realizes it wont be getting that sugar rush which remember is like cocaine.

I guess a come down from sugar for a child will just make them sleep it off, I haven't looked into it to tell you, but that's just my guess. I haven't ever known people when they are desperate for cocaine, but I bet they aren't happy either.

Would you ever think to give cocaine to your child? Its a fact that sugar is very similar to cocaine itself. You might be shocked to learn that the said amount for a child under the age of two years is ZERO Added sugars (Sourced from someone independent and alternative, but I forget where.)

I remember reading stats from the American Heart Association that they recommend a child to have no more than 25g a day which is like a mars bar, or the equivalent to half of a 100g bar of milk chocolate. This to me seems enough to cause that "sweet tooth" which then leads onto the *want* for more sugar as life goes along, but is still much less than what kids consume today. If we stay with the subject of mood and the effects of the brain, its quite obvious to see how children are "hyperactive" and then labelled with the *fictitious disease* called ADHD.

My generation was made aware of E-numbers (not sugars) and I believe there were new regulations set in place to stop the use of so many of them as they were linked to similar effects such as what we call today more commonly ADHD. I had one mate for a short while, well nobody really liked him because he had what I know now to be Bi polar but we hung out for a while and he would explain to me how it felt and why the doctors had said its happening, leading to him taking medications that actually made his illness worse. In these days though we were living on sweets and video games, sugar and screens, just like we see a lot of today around us and so I'm most certain that the environment for him was really bad and also getting bullied a lot doesn't help someone at that time in life.

He told me how he was "calmed down" at the hospital and was restrained to the beds with belts to be injected so that he would pass out. We were 11 years old.

I can see how his illness is becoming the norm for people in society, or at least the buildup to damaging ourselves so much that we get labelled with some form of a maybe fictional illness. More people becoming anxious just like he was, high held stressed out shoulders, fidgeting and unable to rest and relax, mood swings and adult tantrums leading from stress to depression. He said he would just get irritated spontaneously without any good reason and that would cause him to get violent and angry which would lead to his parents (who themselves were breaking down and didn't know how to cope) ringing the people to come and take him away after smashing the house up or something.

If we think about how all violent crime's begin, they all start from somebody getting irritated and the crime is the result of that spontaneous irritated flash feeling that can come to some at any time, which is also a form of high brain stimulations.

Do you come to realize that sugar is controlling your mood?

On the next part to this sugar series I'll share my mind on how sugars effects our hunger and matabolism and our daily energy levels..

My last post can be found here New CocaCola -with no added sugars!, and until the next time - check the amount of sugars your eating!

I have posted several times on the dangers of this insidious substance as well. I recently had a stroke and sugar is the root cause of strokes. When I told this to my doctor he said no high blood pressure. I then said what do you think gave me high blood pressure! He wasn't sure. As long as that level of ignorance continues to plague the medical profession the elimination of sugar from the diet will be an uphill struggle. The most insidious form of concentrated sugar is fruit juice. Avoid it as well. The only sugar I eat today is in fresh fruit, but I avoid pineapple and grapes as they are about the highest in concentrated sugar. I WILL NOT HAVE ANOTHER STROKE!

apple.jpg

..and it doesn't contain all that harmful fiber, vitamins and minerals..

Ahahahaha thats hilerious 😂

actually cane sugar does contain some minerals and even fiber traces left from molasses.. ;)
I mean ~ evaporated cane juice!

This link will take you to the story of how the sugar industry paid for researchers to lie about the dangers of sugar and pushed for blaming saturated fat. Animal fat is good for us and always has been. How many people went to an early grave or suffered for years with debilitating symptoms and drug side effects before they died because of these lies!
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/13/well/eat/how-the-sugar-industry-shifted-blame-to-fat.html
This is the greatest medical hoax in history that saturated fat causes cardiovascular disease.

Hi chuck! Im happy you stumbled across this post to give this information!

I like your blog, and im happy that you are alive :) keep up the good work!

Thank you, sir! Yes, I know first hand the danger sugar poses to our health. I just hope I can stop and maybe reverse the damage done to my cardiovascular system.

Sounds like your very nearly to the stopping part!

Do you go to saunas and steam rooms?

I use water-only fasting, Well, water and a little coffee : ) I've read 12 books on therapeutic fasting and believe that it is the only therapy that cleans out ones arteries. That is why after the fifth day of an extended fast serum cholesterol goes up because it is being moved out and dissolved to feed the rest of the body. Last year during a 5 day water-only fast my body healed itself of benign prostatic hypertrophy, plaque psoriasis, and when spring came around no allergies for the first time in 40 years.

WOW! the power of fasting sounds huge!!

I really never tried it. I like food a lot and seem to get hungry often, and hate to feel hunger.. I shoukld try it though just because Ive not done it before but i know and have lived with many people who fast. I knew a old German woman in Spain who fasted for months on end! Just drinking lemon juice in water.. I just think imagine that Id get so grumpy and moody from being hungry, as that does happening in life, I really love that full feeling in the stomach hahaha

The longest supervised fast was in 1965-66 by Angus Barbieri of 382 days. He went from 456 pounds to 180 pounds. Once you realize that hunger "pangs" are not real hunger it gets very easy. Hunger pangs are like a child in a shopping cart placed just out of reach of the candy rack next to the cash register. The child whines and cries and the mother hurries to complete the purchase or she scans a candy bar and shoves it into the brat's mouth. That, sir, is a hunger pang. The first two days of a water-only fast will see periodic typical hunger pangs. They don't get worse or more often as the day passes. On the third day hunger pangs cease and your stomach feels all the time like it feels between hunger pangs. Not hungry, not full. On the 4th day you will experience a state of euphoria a sort of freedom if you will. 5th day same as the 4th except turned down a notch. I read about this phenomenon and then experienced it during a 5-day water and black coffee only fast. Avoid diet pop. Unless you like feeling hungry every day. The best of 12 books I read on therapeutic fasting was by Dr. Herbert Shelton. If you read up on this you will find that there is nothing new in fasting. A book written in the 1800's reads like a book written in 2016 except for outdated terminology. However, today's books like Jason Fung's The Complete Guide to Fasting 2016 provides physiologiccal proof. The fact that fasting has been used to allow the body to cure itself has been known for thousands of years. It will never be mainstream due to fear and if you had a six figure student loan, a house payment, and mouths to feed would you recommend a proven therapy that is free to the patient? Shelton's book is a free read at: http://www.loveandtruth.net/shelton-fasting.html
Other big names in the today's therapeutic fasting scene are:
Cancer prevention/management: Dr. Thomas Seyfried
Prevent/cure/manage cognitive decline: Dr. Mark Mattson
Reverse Type 2 diabetes: Dr. Jason Fung
In Dr. Shelton's book you will learn that the first intentional reversal of type 2 diabetes took place in the early 1930's less that 10 years after they discovered insulin and started saving the lives of people with type 1 diabetes.

Something beneficial that's not been taught anymore is only "new" because its dangerous to the system :) Amazing how society is fed with the idea that anything non western medicine is deemed most as "hippy bullshit" and laughed off and forgotten about. I saw a documentary about how the body is designed to heal itself , one that I should find again and download ;)
When I was 15 I knew a man who studied karate for many years and had been invited to stay with shaolin monks, he showed me how energy can be formed and burnt my hand just by holding his hand over mine, it went so hot that I had to pull my hand away. Then he was of work as he broke his arm, went to the hospital to see the xray, then signed himself out and went home, 2 weeks later he had healed it himself and was back as normal!

I like to learn alot about chinease methods of healing, such as reflexology as an extension on learning stress relief massage techniques and the its astonashing how little information we get taught to us on health - (Obviously its how it is for reasons you stated above) but im thankful we can read information on the internet that otherwise most likely wouldn't have been found (unless you go live with them "hippys"!)

When you eat overabundance sugar, the additional insulin in your circulation system can influence your corridors, some portion of your body's circulatory framework. ... Research likewise recommends that eating less sugar can enable lower to pulse, a noteworthy hazard factor for coronary illness.

Taking from experience.
Sugar and adhd is such a bad combo. It feels so good, but it will not make you focus or feel nice after the crash.

"Proffesionals" say that sugar isn't a stimulant for the mind such as caffeine, but I strongly disagree!! I hope you dont eat so much and have realised the dangers :)

I have limited it. Also only have coffeine in the morning after breakfast.
It simply fucks up my sleeping pattern and much more

ah man, coffee! Definatly another one!

I never used to drink coffee, in fact I only had a real cup of coffee instead of instant coffee when I was 20 something. Then I binged on it in spain, and even got a high tolerence to it. A few years after I started to practice meditation, and soon saw that coffee is like the oppersite of meditating!

It ruins my experience of life, I cant really fall asleep well, then need it to feel awake in the mornings. Dam I traveled with people who were complete assholes , like really bad when they woke up and the nicest person you'd ever meet after that first cup of coffee.

Best to stick with the herbal teas!

This is such an important issue you write about! Will you also talk about the correlation that is said to be between cancer and sugar?

The problem, also for me is: I know about all of this. But often the part to act different is very hard!

Meanwhile I reduzed my consume on sugar and I realized that I really lost weight and it's much more easy to hold this weight. I can't wat or drink to sweet things any more. But if I do so, shortly after I can feel the sugar in my body! My heart beats faster for example... diesn't feel very good.

Hei!
Theres so much to write about and I like to write no so in detail as to bore people hahahaha. Im sure there will be one dedicated to illnesses caused by addeds sugars, because thats a verrrry long list indeed right there alone!

The problem, also for me is: I know about all of this. But often the part to act different is very hard!

Dont stress! All in good time there :)

Yes. Knowing is the first step. Rest will come.

I'm looking forward to reading your other articles :)

Danke Shoen!

I want to see these coked up mice 😂

Thats quite a fun vid! I guess youtube wont let too many vids be shown there on these tests hahahahha

😂 that coked up mouse needs a cigarette & someone to talk to 😂

hahhahahahaha :)

Yup, I've seen the effects of sugar with my nieces and nephews, they're all over the place. We're talking about sugar but there is also a study? that like sugar, cheese is also as addictive as cocaine. Thanks for the info.

cheese is also as addictive as cocaine

!!!!!

This I must check out! Nice to have you drop by, great username :)

Haha thanks! I've been checking out documentaries recently like "What the Health", there they largely associate diabetes with eating meat rather than sugar. But sugar is definitely bad, one thing I notice when I consume too much, my memory suddenly goes bad. The information there is shocking if all true.

Thanks for a recommendation for something to watch, I did see that title but didn't watch it :) Imagine all the things we don't know yet!
