100 Days Challenge | Day 50

I set myself a challenge to take 100 days off where I will mainly put my focus on my Health and Personal Development. I will be making these posts every 10 days to track my progression and give an update.

Day 41-50

The past 10 days were quite active when it came down to doing a lot of sports and I easily maintained my healthy plant-based lifestyle. I started going on moring runs just after I wake up and have really enjoyed those to a degree that I'm now making something of a habit of it. My social life and meeting new people was still on hold because of the many end of season football matches during the mid week. The season is coming to an end which will give me a lot more time away from betting. I also finally took the time do some gardening and put some herbs and flowers into my balcony baskets.


Healthy Food: one of the recipes I made was a Sweet Patato Beetroot Salad. I right now have about 7 main dishes I switch between that are both very healthy and really tasty at the same time. (Some of them are in previous update posts and I will continue sharing other main dishes I eat in the next couple updates)

Ingredients:
Oven baked Sweet Patato | cooked Beetroot | Choipped salad | Radish Sprouts | Spring onion | Walnuts | spices | nutritional yeast


Working Out: Right now I feel in the best shape of my life thanks to cosistently being active these past 50 days. I picked up running which used to be a real torture in the past and I actually enjoy it now. I also bought an arm band to track my daily runs and progression. My goal is not to become a long distance runner, but more to do it to the point where the time / health benefits ratio is close to optimal.

Social Life: I did not meet any new people these past 10 days aside from some tinder chats. I do have some things planned already for day 51-60 though. I will be doing an escape room and attend the pint of science festival wich are basically scientific lectures given in a pub environment. One of the things I also intend to do the next 50 days is to attend a week of Bikram Yoga (hot yoga). I once saw it on tv and always have wanted to try it out ever since.

Basilicum! Yes, great choice for the balcony baskets! Fresh tomatoes from the farm market, pasta, plenty of fresh basilicum, and you get yourself a great meal!

Yes, I already used a lot of it on a lentil spagetti with vegetable tomato sause I made a couple days back. The fresh basicium really made it look amazing and added a lot taste wise. I will probably need some extra at this pace.

Congrats on the halfway mark. So now that you're in better shape, just curious...is your quality of sleep better now?

I never really had issues to sleep aside from the rare times I ate something unhealthy late before going to bed (this really affects my sleep).

That's awesome that you're trying new things man! Also that meal looks delicious I may have to try and make that one day! Looks like something you'd get at a healthy vegan restaurant or something haha!

Getting the things I eat down has been a major factor in changing my habits over the years. The thought experiment I made was that everyone can eat perfectly healthy if they had a private chef to their service 24/7 who prepared plant based food that actually tastes really good. So what it comes down to is that it's not about the food itself, but about the convenience and the short term enjoyment it gives. Manage those 2 things and bad eating habits can easily be overcome. I've always enjoyed cooking and I spend quite some time over the years to find main dishes that are easy, fast, cheap but look and taste really good giving a really satisfying feeling. No more unhealthy ready to food from the stores for me :)

Now's the time to complicate your life by meeting new and interesting people 😄

Indeed, by far the biggest challenge. The end of the season should give me a lot of extra time to finally put that as a priority.
