100 Days Challenge | Day 20

I set myself a challange to take 100 days off where I will mainly put my focus on my Health and Personal Development. I will be making these posts every 10 days to track my progression and give an update.



Day 11-20

In my last update post I talked about how putting some effort in meeting new people whould be on my to do list so I put some time and effort into that these past 10 days. Overall things are going great and it's crazy how big a difference 20 days make in how I feel compared to when I started. (I let myself go a bit in not so healthy foods and such the week before this challenge)

Healthy Food: By now I feel like I have a choiceless awareness and Infinite Effortless Discipline when it comes down to my Whole Foods Plant Based Diet. This is exactly what I want to achieve after the 100 days are over, no longer experiencing a choice and live a life without any kind of temptation towards junk food options just eating as close as optimal as possible without having the feeling to give up anything. Having time to prepare proper meals really helps and I learned over the years to make healthy replacements recipes where the small sacrifice in taste is nothing compared to the knowledge I'm eating something that's actually good for me.

Weight Loss: One of the goals for the next 10 days will be to lose some more body fat. I'm at 66kg right now (started the challenge at 68kg), but would like to go to 64kg. (I'm 1.72m so i'm not really overweight). Some more endurance activity and an increased water intake while taking it easy on high calorie nuts, seeds and oil should easily do the trick.
Working out: I have kept my daily morning workout routine and increased the reps. I can't say this goes automatic yet and some activation energy is needed to get me going sometimes when I wake up. I will keep my current routine the next 10 days and probably increase the weights after day 30. As for how far my activity goes aside from my morning work out, I regularly go for a run, but prever longer walks instead because I feel slight pain in my hip after running too long. I also still play tennis and the summer season is about to hit which should see that increase by a lot. The swimming pool I normally go to has closed down for renovation work, next couple weeks I plan to try out some other swimming pools so I can get it into my weekly routine again.
Social Life: I did meet some new people these last 10 days. A distant friend asked if I wanted to come along on a bowling night with some people I did not know. Usually I decline these offers because there always is a football match I don't want to miss. No excuses now so I went along and it was an enjoyable night out. I also started using Tinder again which gave some matches and chat sessions from which one really stood out. It is rare for me to find like minded people, but the conversations are really a joy when it happens. We still have to plan a real life meetup, but it will likely happen in the near future. I'm also planning to do a speed dating event next week, so there is some really good progress when it comes down to improving my lack in social skills and getting out there.

Distractions: I haven't played any Video Games this past 20 days and kept the porn to an absolute minimum. This really kept me from getting lost in distractions and forced me to either take some action or sit down and do nothing at all. When it comes down to gaming it is very similar to where I was with food a couple years ago, not really willing to give it up while understanding that it's not good for me and somewhat a waste of time because I tend to be unable to find a balance. I also recently started to try out NoFap(Day 6 now). It has quite a big community on Reddit (300+k subs) and I always wanted to at least try it out but never thought I had the willpower. It will be interesting to see if there is any truth to all the claims on reddit about it...

I also recently started to try out NoFap(Day 6 now). It has quite a big community on Reddit (300+k subs) and I always wanted to at least try it out but never thought I had the willpower. It will be interesting to see if there is any truth to all the claims on reddit about it...

I've come across the NoFap folks a couple of years ago and I have some mixed feelings about them. The positive is that they try to help those who have the addiction to porn, but I have to tell you your BS detector will go nuts :-)

If you were to believe the 99% of the claims made there, not fapping will make you handsome, decisive, lovable, rich, and famous leader of men...

If you have a porn addiction, getting it under control is admirable, but the claims about the benefits of nofap are wildly exaggerated, to say the least.

I woudn't say I have a porn addiction, it's just a bad habbit I see similar to junk food (cheat reward system stimulation). The science is quite clear when it comes down to porn, so I like to get to a point where I just don't ever feel the need to watch it anymore similar to the food. The claims they make on NoFap indeed are ridicoulous, but I'm just trying it out for a while just to see myself if it makes any difference. I'll make sure to report on it :p

Porn and video games are quite good at mimicking the real thing. Porn as a surrogate for sex, and the video games as a surrogate for the real-life action and adventure.

I've never had a problem with porn, I'll watch it but I don't have a need to do it. Months can pass without it even crossing my mind to watch some. On the other hand, the video games... Spending 48hr with no sleep killing monsters or building empires was not that an unusual thing for me to do.

I quit it once I've realized that instead of building the real world around me the way I want it to be, I'm indulging in the fantasy of me doing so.

Porn will dull your need for sex, the games will dull your ambitions. At least they did it for me.

Great thing to Costanza! In these days we are living at such a fast pace, that we often forget to take care about ourselves!
Keep it going.
Another idea for pizza, use a watermelon as basis, put some cheese and rucula on top of it! Not my idea, but my wife mentioned it yesterday!

Indeed, life goes by so fast and I would like to make it a yearly habbit to take 100 days off in the summer to put some focus to move forward. Thanks for the pizza tip, I don't eat any cheese though.
