Borage is an amazing garden plant. We grow lots of it on the farm. The bees love it and it makes the best honey. So do the chickens, rabbits and goats. It conditions the soil and is a good addition to the compost pile, plus the flowers are beautiful in a salad.
@luzcypher thanks for the additional info! Got no chickens, rabbits not goats but for those who do - that's big help! I have two bee hotels now I wonder if I could have a taste of those. Suddenly, you gave me an idea - to make sure to plant the Borage near the bee hotels next year. Thanks a lot that helps!
The bees will be super happy to have borage near the hive.

I like the look of these little flowers....but to be honest, I have never eaten a flower....strange eh?
@countrygirl, thanks!
No, it isn't strange - I'd rather have them in the garden - enjoyed by the bees than be eaten by me either :)
flowers from chives are like candy
Maybe I'll try some next summer.....I grow chives to keep the bugs away .... love the smell...but don't even eat them.
the flowers are heavenly the ones from chives are actually my all time favorites. dandelion flowers also have a wonderful, mild sweetness. some flowers, orchids for instance, don't taste like much of anything. be careful and don't eat the wrong ones.
maybe I'll give them a try next summer - I have had dandelion tea - it was okayish....a tad bitter, it was supposed to help something or other....probably not memory hehe.
dandelion tea is the leaves or root, and is traditionally used, leaves for kidney and bladder health, and root for liver. the plant is bitter, the flower is tasty.
I can't say that I've ever eaten borage flowers before.
I've actually eaten the petals of a carnation and clover, but I think that's about it for flower consumption.
@merej99 - I haven't tried eating carnations - they look so cute I felt guilty plucking them :P
One of my favorites!!
@papa-pepper thanks!
you eat them, too?
It is one delicious plant, but I cannot say for sure!
You're the best....thanks!!!
You're not so bad yourself!
I replied in the wrong spot....lol....I'm tired. lol......You are still the best. !!! I'm laughing at myself so much I can't see.
I'm still the best?
What kind of scam is this?

LOL!
City girls ain't got nuthin' on you!
Thank you for posting @englishtchrivy. It sounds lovely......looking forward to giving it a go. Anything to assist tomatoes is a plus. All the best to you.
Please alert bleujay if the upvote does not take....will fly back round as for now the button is simply spinning as it did the other day. Apologies extended.
@bleujay, thank you for clicking upvote. If it helps, I've checked in my steemd.com for you yes, you upvoted :) thank you! - you could also check your voting power there to make sure you don't get too low % wise.
To do that just type or click this - https://steemd.com/@bleujay. Look at the part that says voting power on the white box under your name. On the other side you will find who you upvoted.
If you click the button and it just turns in circles - press F5 on your computer - and it would refresh - I learned about it from @meesterboom when I had the same problem. My tip is always check your voting power and don't let it go down to 50% - it's hard to recover. From now on, I am keeping mine at 70% otherwise no influence on cent posts. Good luck with it!
Thank you for your reply @englishtchrivy. How very kind of you to assist. Yes....bleujay will give it a go...thank you for your support.
I've eaten a few flowers but not this one. It looks nice.
@ace108 I have that same feeling haha - they look at you like innocent kids asking why me ? hahah - but they also look so pretty on salads - cucumberish but light
