The Furry Angel
Never in Helen’s life did she ever think she would become homeless. She stood on the street corner wondering what to do now. If only she had the simplest of camping supplies she could make her way in the woods for a few days; just until she figured out her next move. Between the sobs and laughter, she looked up and saw a cat.
This cat had clearly been feeding kittens and she rubbed up against Helen’s leg with sincere gratitude. “I’m not sure what I can do for you kitty.” She said.
But the cat insisted Helen give her some attention. The cat would walk a few feet, turn around, meow at Helen and then walk again.
Helen believed she was crazy but decided following the cat was better than standing on the street corner having a breakdown. The cat led Helen through the apartment buildings, down a shady looking alley, and then past a few abandoned houses into the woods.
She showed Helen the path through the woods that was clearly not meant for humans. Helen pushed the tree branches and bushes aside trying her best to keep up with the cat.
Finally, they reached what looked like an abandoned cabin. Under the floor boards of the porch were the kittens.
Helen realized the kitchen of the cabin was fully stocked with canned goods. She opened a can of tuna, placed in on the floor by the cat and then patted her head. “Good kitty.”
