The Chips
After being sick for more than three days Jen got her appetite back and dove into a bag of Doritos. She still has a sour feeling in her stomach, but she also had a growling stomach and one side of the coin had to win. Before she had begun getting sick, she had a well planned out and time managed life.
Now it seems more often she is planning trips to the doctor instead of trips to business meetings overseas. She didn’t mind much. She knew that her fast-paced life would also be short lived. Still, she missed the job. She missed the stress and the confrontation. She rose to the challenge at any prospect.
She was reminded daily of this loss as she read her e-mails that explained there were millions of opportunities she was missing because of this illness. None of them helped her feel any better. What she needed was rest and fluids. She pinched her arm and watched as the skin slid slowly back to shape. She was dehydrated again.
She didn’t want to go back to the hospital. Too much time spending prepping when all she needed was an iv and some medicated sleep. The medical bills piled up faster than the laundry… and Jen thought, the only thing worth paying her attention to at this moment, are these chips.

it is so hard when people get sick and have to step out of the life they knew
The greatest blessings on Earth is being healthy and enjoying our food and feeling rested. I certainly understand the feeling of not being able to work when you're not well. There was a time I went a whole month outside of work. Medication that I was on took away the rest of my little appetite and I lost 20 pounds in a month and got very sick. We learned from these things and learn to appreciate our appetites so much more! Good freewrite!
Thank you! I always think of the verse in the Bible that says a sick man will turn down the finest meal. I always regret not being able to eat the meals I missed while I was sick :)
