Day 14 - Selfie Freewrite Celebration Contest!

Kelly set the mouse trap and then gave her cat Glenda a dirty look. She thought having a cat would help with her problem of mice, but to her dismay Kelly found the cat did little to help the situation. Glenda was fun to have around, but she didn’t have a mouser mentality and Kelly had no idea how to change that fact.

When the mouse trap was set she hid it behind the canned food and waited for the dreaded snap. She had hoped that after Glenda arrived the mice would just up and leave. She even gave Glenda a few months to grow into a full-grown cat, but still Glenda refused to mouse.

“If you won’t catch a mouse for me, then you don’t get any more soft food.” Kelly told Glenda after remembering a friend’s comment that a well-fed cat won’t hunt.

Kelly listened for days of Glenda meowing at the food bowl and begging for a can of food. But she didn’t budge. By the end of the week Glenda gave up asking and was thankful for the dry food.

One day when Kelly was least expecting it, Glenda dropped a dead mouse on the floor in the kitchen. Kelly couldn’t believe it.

“Good kitty.” she said and patted her head, “now go get the rest of them.”
