116,491 Total Team Reps (+4,478 new max!) - The Steemit Daily 100+ Rep Fitness Challenge - Day # 63 - 2/07/18

in #fitness7 years ago (edited)

Sadly, my Dad is expected die any time now, so I needed to clear my mind to do something positive for myself. Sometimes reps are more than reps, and honoring a commitment is more than checking a box. I need to feel like I'm building vitality right now. This workout is a quick one because I need to go home early tomorrow.

One of my goals with this challenge was to be physically stronger and healthier for when this time came. These reps have also also also made recent months easier on me by continuing to invest in myself when I would've sat around otherwise. They'll also give me the head start I need to go hard at the gym for the next phase of my healing process before my baseball season starts.

The main advice from my recent experience is to never assume or trust that a parent will right their wrongs with their child before they pass on. If you truly need closure for something significant that wasn't your fault, approach them for it as soon as possible. Once the mind goes, closure will likely never come. I've learned that even the most important people in your life may be incapable of apologizing on their own, no matter how necessary it is for them to do, and then it becomes impossible.., and then it becomes impossible...

What I'm referring to if you haven't seen my recent post on this.

10 Steemians for a massive new high of 4,478 reps today and 116,491 overall, done across 24 people from 8 countries in 62 days.

Calling whales, dolphins, and the fitness community to take notice of us busting our asses daily. Please join us, help spread the word, or reward these dedicated Steemians for their daily workouts and blog posts. More people are joining because they've finally SEEN this blog series, and wish they did sooner. Many who have joined have shared how much this initiative has helped them get back on a healthy fitness regimen. It sure has helped me immensely!

All counts are manually recorded and updated daily.

The Challenge: At least 100 honest reps of exercise every day. No excuses. No bullsh*t. Just actions, positivity, and results. Only post AFTER your reps are done.

  • If you can't contribute yet, try to eat natural foods and stay well hydrated without the sugar for now.

  • It's ok to start with a number you're comfortable with if you can't reach 100. You choose what exercises to do.

  • 30 minutes of dedicated brisk walking, running, or SPINNING (new) can count as 100 reps if you're unable to lift or need to rest.

  • I will award 1 SBD to each person who reaches every 10,000 rep milestone. So far, 4 SBD have been paid out.

-75 Bar Calf Raises (75 pounds)
-41 Shoulder Bar Raises (75 pounds)

My Daily Assessment:

Feedback from @mightpossibly:

"I find it deeply satisfying to do these reps, which is a big deal. I've always hated the gym and prefer to exercise at home. But I've lacked the discipline to do it. It sort of feels like I have gym buddies now, without the hassle of going to the gym."

Sorry to hear about your dad man. I don't think anyone will have the words to help you prepare for the hurt you're about to go through. Whether you are a religious person or not, I think you can find some peace in the fact that he will no longer be in any sort of emotional or physical pain, when that time comes.

Stay strong in the tough days that you have ahead of you.

Hey bro, sorry about your dad, may God give you more strength to bear the grief. I'll do a big evening session in your honour today.
Thursday Morning: Challenge Completed
100 push ups
50 sit ups
50 free squats before going to work.
Once again, take heart and be strong.

Sorry about your dad Matt, I just don't know what to say when stuff like that is happening. All I can say is that my thoughts are with you mate.

I just hope you know we appreciate all you're doing here while you & your family are going through all of this.

Here's my link for the day

I feel a bit shallow even posting that after I've read about what's going on with you Matt.

All the best mate.

I'm sort for what you're going through right now with your Dad. Thank you for your vulnerability and trusting your Steemit Community with it. Your developing an inner strength, not only through your training, but also through your work and commitment here within the Community. Thank you.

I've been sick for the last days but now I'm back again. I think that the next days will be more bodyweight and TRX training and in next week I will hit the iron again !

I'm sorry to hear the bad news m8, I know how tough this can be to go through as my best m8 was taken from me the same way.
My thoughts are with you through this tough time, if I can help you out with these posts at all and you need some support I'm more than happy to help you out.

I did not do my reps yesterday, I unloaded a shipping container of heavy boxes so that was like a workout in itself. Not sure if it count though so I will just call it a day off.

Challenge Completed (346 reps today/357 yesterday)
First.....I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's declining health and the strain it is putting on you! You have such an amazing spirit and I truly commend you for your strength in this trying time! Yes, you are absolutely right about not waiting to air out old issues with those we love! Life is short and time is precious so we can't waste it!😌 I lost my Dad back in 2007, so I can definitely relate.😔My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Second...I forgot to post my reps yesterday because of my daughter's birthday, but I updated it this morning on yesterdays post. I also posted the reps here above to make it easier.

I'm sorry to hear that, Matt. I know its incredibly difficult even though you guys has a falling out. That actually could make it even harder. You've started an awesome movement here on this platform by doing what you did and although I can't speak for everyone I'm confident in saying the most fun I've had on steemit stemmed from this group. You can certainly call on me and probably anyone else in this group if you have an issue we can help with.

Thanks for catching my comment and your thoughts. It's nice to know that people enjoy it for more than the reps, and with some fun involved.

I'm also glad that you've had enjoyed turning your freezing cold garage in a social media workout mecca. It's only the beginning, so get a good box fan for the Summer. Luckily, you're also getting your neighbors used to thrash metal music for when your kids are ready to start their own metal band.

Daily Challenge Completed - 116 reps:
-75 Bar Calf Raises (75 pounds)
-41 Shoulder Bar Raises (75 pounds)

@Steemmatt - I am so sorry to hear about your dad. 2 1/2 years of brain cancer and therapies. He's gone thru a lot.

You also, have gone thru a tremendous amount your entire life with your relationship with your father. (I just read your other post - I had joined this Challenge just after you wrote it.) It sounds like he was very stressed and didn't know and understand how to raise children. That unfortunately happens.

Sounds like you'll be there when he passes. That, I believe, is a good thing to do even with all of the pain. He's still your father. At some point in your life the pain he caused you will diminish and be pushed to the back of your mind. You'll be stronger; more Self-realized; more immersed in your own life; more fulfilled. Life goes on.

Peace, bro.
Mark
