103,078 Total Team Reps! (+1,931) - The Steemit Daily 100+ Rep Fitness Challenge - Day # 59 - 2/03/18

in #fitness6 years ago (edited)

6 Steemians for 1,931 reps today and 103,078 overall in 58 days. At the rate we're growing, we may hit ONE MILLION fitness reps by the end of the year! Congrats to @thevillan for another 1 SBD payout for hitting 20,000 reps.

My Checkpoint (as of 2/2/18) - one more time:

I started this 58 days ago and haven't missed a day. After not going to the gym or doing any real workout since Jan. 11, 2017, 57 straight days of 100+ reps was a change I needed to make. Before last Jan., I went to the gym about 10-12 times over the previous 2 years because of a partial ligament tear in my elbow from baseball. I feel great now and will continue to get stronger for my upcoming season. I want to hit more home runs and pitch faster. I feel I'm well on my way. I've also done a lot of leg exercises for this, which have been my biggest gains. I've often ignored legs in the past, so this challenge has helped me overcome this bad habit. I'm excited to see how much foot speed I'll gain on the field.

Details:

  • 6,453 reps before this post +150 for today.
  • 113 average reps per day.
  • 220 was my peak day on the first day.
  • No days off.
  • 10 solid pounds gained.
  • Only worked out at home.
  • NO supplements aside from occasional natural protein.
  • No dieting (will cut up in the spring).

Commitment and consistency are key. Here are three pictures showing my results so far, but I have a long way to go. I see a big improvement in the pics since the start, but the change seems less significant in the last ~30 days. It doesn't feel that way when I lift, or with my clothes, but so maybe this recent shot didn't do me any favors. Perhaps I don't know how to pose properly, but I think it's because the muscle is a little hidden under the weight I gained from my increased appetite. Once I go to the gym, I know I'll have a big boost in results and cut down a few pounds fast.

Day 58 - 2/3/18:

Day 32 - 1/7/17:

Day 1 - 12/7/17:

I think it's key to know that all I used for my reps was this simple curl bar. I did some push-ups and some crunches, but most of my reps were just with this bar. This goes to show that you don't need to go to the gym or use heavy equipment to get basic results.

This is all I used so far...

I want to thank all of the 21 Steemians, spanning at least 8 countries, for their contributions, encouragement, resteems, and advice so far. I particularly want to shout out @rmsbodybuilding for being there every day since the day ONE, accounting for 27,388 reps himself! He's a true expert and has plenty of advice for anyone looking for it. I also want to recognize @thevillan for being a monster in the gym with almost 20,000 reps in only 36 days, his encouragement, and active upvoting across the team. The same goes for @mightpossibly for all of his generous upvotes to reward everyone who participates.

The Challenge: At least 100 honest reps of exercise every day. No excuses. No bullsh*t. Just actions, positivity, and results. Only post AFTER your reps are done.

  • If you can't contribute yet, try to eat natural foods and stay well hydrated without the sugar for now.

  • It's ok to start with a number you're comfortable with if you can't reach 100. You choose what exercises to do.

  • 30 minutes of dedicated brisk walking, running, or SPINNING (new) can count as 100 reps if you're unable to lift or need to rest.

  • I will award 1 SBD to each person who reaches every 10,000 rep milestone. So far, 4 SBD have been paid out.

My Daily Challenge Completed - 105 reps:

  • 75 Shoulder Bar Presses (75 pounds) [3x25 reps]
  • 30 Back Bar Rows (75 pounds) [1x30 reps]

My Daily Assessment:

Excited to be using the bar again. Feeling strong. I aimed to do legs today, but will put them off until tomorrow since my upper body was still feeling good. I probably should cut down on some calories, but I tend to have a crazy appetite when I'm exercising. Since I haven't had a day off, the appetite is insatiable. As a solution, since I'm the heaviest I've ever been, I'll just have to do a good amount of cardio at the gym when I head there soon.

Feedback from @mightpossibly:

"I find it deeply satisfying to do these reps, which is a big deal. I've always hated the gym and prefer to exercise at home. But I've lacked the discipline to do it. It sort of feels like I have gym buddies now, without the hassle of going to the gym."

Please see my first post linked below for my motivation, the challenge background, rules, and details for the Steemit Silver Coin prize! It's also got some personal stuff about why I'm doing this, so it could be a good motivator.

Tomorrow!

At the rate you're ramping up your physical stuff, you may want to watch the Eagles' movie Invincible and try to walk onto the team.

Ha! Ha! I'm better off playing with the 89 year old former football player that you posted the other day. I think I could hold my own against him.

For you guys, in case u missed it on another post by Steemmatt - feel-good stories. Scroll down to the last one for the footballer.
