Dance of Elements: Awakening - Chapter 11
After an hour, we sat at a table, surrounded by thousands of books, for reading which, hundreds of human lives are not enough.
I could not concentrate on the textbook that Saul had chosen for me, "The technique of transferring the Eyvaz energy to amulets". For some reason, I was not able to stop thinking about Camelia. Something was wrong with her, although she hid it from others.
"I have to find out what's bothering her!" I thought.
"Did you say something, Daniel? " Saul asked in surprise. "I'm sorry, I got too carried away by the book and did not hear it."
Did I say it out loud? Definitely, I need to learn to free my head from extraneous thoughts, as advised by the master Lucas or my studies will be a complete failure. I felt awkward, raised my head and looked at Saul, whose eyes could not tear away from the book.
"I have one question that I cannot figure out for myself. Concerning cumulative stones. As I understand it, through meditation, the magician is able to transfer a certain amount of energy to the stone, in order to use it at the right time, to create a certain technique. This is all clear, but why then, Master Amador and Largo do not wear a necklace with stones?"
Saul looked up from his book and mysteriously looked into my eyes, a curved smile appeared on his face.
"You learn fast Daniel, in such a short time you understand so much - it's amazing. Mages and archmages, belong to the class of higher magicians, comprehended the essence of the energy. They do not need stones at all. The flow of power that they can release at a time is so great that the need for them disappears. At least, we are taught to think so."
In the eyes of Saul, who was sitting opposite to me appeared anger and envy.
"But Daniel, I'll tell you frankly, they all were born geniuses. Being direct descendants of primordial magicians, they received their power at birth, doing nothing for this. It's sad, but the goddess Eyvaz, give incredible power to few mages and only miserable crumbs to others."
Suddenly the boy's face twisted. He began to writhe as if a burning pain had pierced him, holding his hand to his stomach.
"What's with you, Saul?" I asked confused.
Slowly standing up, he put his hands into pockets and took out an amulet of teleportation. I immediately understood why.
"Daniel, I need to go," Saul said with a worn out voice. "I'm sure you'll find your way to your quarters."
One of the stones on his neck lit up bright blue, and after a second he disappeared.
"I need to ask what happened to him," I thought, leafing through the textbook page.
Sitting alone, in such a huge room it was very unpleasant. I spent three hours here, and no one has appeared. Most likely, the library of the Waldorf tower was not a popular place for water adepts.
The methods of Eyvaz energy transfer were described in the book. The bottom line was to release energy directly into the stones. To do this, a mage had to concentrate and then imagine the flow that goes from the body to the stones. But this was the simplest part. After this, the mage has to continue, without stopping to keep energy in the stones, not relaxing for a single moment, which requires an adept extraordinary skill. And the more of them, the more it is difficult it is to keep the energy concentrated in them. On the next lesson on meditation, I decided to definitely try to do it.
While leafing through several more pages of the book, I decided to go to my room, yet the path was not close. I spent nearly an hour to come down here, and the way back will not be so simple, because one has to go up all the time. It was possible to use the stone for teleportation, which Master Lucas gave me, but I left it on my desk in my chamber. And anyway I wanted to have a walk.
I got up, put the book back in place and headed towards the huge door that served as the exit from the library. There was complete silence all around. I heard every step I took. The gloomy hall of the library did its work, and I felt uneasy. Therefore, without realizing it, I greatly accelerated my pace.
"This damned Saul left me here alone," I thought ironically, smiling at myself.
At the library door, I heard a rustle behind me. Slowly turning and preparing to see something terrible, to my surprise, there was nothing.
"Saul?" frightenedly said I. "But no one answered."
At the moment when I turned back to face the door to leave this terrible place in front of me emerged Master Largo. He rudely grabbed me with his left hand. His eyes were sowing with unnaturally magical blue light.
"She says that you will have to make a choice, in favor of darkness or light… soon."
From the heard voice, goosebumps ran through my body, it sounded, as if from the other world.
"The fate of this world will depend on what choice you make. Do not let the darkness devour you! Always remember your beloved people!"
I tried to free myself, but Master Largo was holding me too tight, so I could not get out of his grip. Further, he slowly extended his right hand, which he had kept behind his back. In it was a book in a binding, made of pure gold and decorated with a lot of precious stones.
"Take the book, boy. It wants this. Take it, just hide it."
Master Largo forcibly put the book in my hands. As soon as I took it, he abruptly let me go and looked at me in surprise.
"Are you already leaving the library, Mr. Daniel?" Largo asked calmly as if nothing had happened. "I hope you found what you were looking for. Bye."
After these words, he disappeared without giving me a chance to ask what had happened here. I think this strange old man did not understand anything himself, there was a feeling that someone was controlled him.
Whatever it was, Daniel decided to get out of this place as soon as possible. He hid the book under the robe and walked briskly to his chamber.
"Forbidden techniques of water magic" this was the name of the mysterious book written on the first page. "Only now, lying in my bed and holding it in front of me, I calmed down a bit and began to think."
"What happened in the library"? I asked myself constantly.
Analyzing the present day, one could conclude that something strange was going on. Saul, Camelia, Masters Largo and Amador all keep some secrets, I felt it very clearly. But only Camellia worried me. Unlike the others, in her behavior was anxiety, as if she had lost someone and could not find him. Also, I promised myself not to feel any emotion towards her; I can try to help her. Therefore, I will undoubtedly find out what happened to her, and then I will try to help.
Why did Master Largo give me this book? And who is “she”? Every day in the tower, the questions became more and more. I took a deep breath and smiled, because, no matter what, I like to live here, and all the questions, sooner or later, will always be answered. As for the book, judging by its name, the magic described in it refers to forbidden techniques, and their use is dangerous. I needed to consult with someone about this. Tomorrow we will have a lesson about combat magic. And I will inadvertently ask the teacher a question about the difference between the forbidden techniques and the usual ones.
Last night I managed to sleep only a few hours, so today I decided to go to bed early. Who knows how difficult tomorrow day will be.
