Dance of Elements: Awakening - Chapter 7
An old man sat in the room, all alone. He thoughtfully stroked his white beard and pondered over a pile of papers that lay on the table. One of the scrolls strongly troubled him. Reading the message delivered to him in the morning, his hand clenched into a fist, and his eyes filled with anger. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, thereby, calming himself. Suddenly someone knocked at the door.
"Come in!" hiding his annoyance, freshly exclaimed the gray-haired old man.
"Good day, Archmage Eliot," said the lame man, slowly entering the room. "Sorry to disturb you, but I have an important conversation concerning our guest."
"Master Lucas, you are the hero of the Waldorf tower, your deeds are legends," standing up from the wooden chair, Eliot politely said, "and I am always happy to see you in my office. You are one of the few people in the tower who I can confidently call my friend. And now I ask you to sit down and tell me, with what you have got."
Master went to the chair, which was near the table, opposite to Eliot. He, slowly, as if devoid of strength, sat down next to him. The light from the candle standing on the table granted his face magical shapes, forcing the Archmage to pay all his attention to the late guest. Lucas thoughtfully looked at the head of the Order of Water Mages, and then with an alarming voice, said:
"This morning, after breakfast, my student Daniel and I, went to meditate in the valley of knowledge. I intended to make him feel the energy of Eyvaz. The class was rather calm, even boring. Eight hours after he completely immersed in himself. I was already thinking of bringing him to senses and returning to the tower. But all of a sudden, a boy who he has lost his memory and does not remember anything, has released so much energy of Eyvaz that I was instantly thrown back, covered by the branches of a tree that tore up with roots. That power was truly incredible. At the time of the fall, I was able to use the technique of water cover to determine the level of his strength."
Lucas paused, his pupils widened as if he remembered something awful.
Archmage Eliot, foreshadowing the bad news, got up from his chair and went to the fireplace, inside of which was crackled burning wood. His gaze rested on the picture that hung over him, with the image of a tall and mighty man, with broad shoulders dressed in a white robe.
"And? How strong is its potential?" Asked Eliot, not taking his eyes away from the picture.
"I'm completely confident that the level of Eyvaz energy, which he has, is not inferior to yours, and maybe even exceeds it," gritting his teeth, Master Lucas said, watching the reaction of the archmage. I can assume that he will not need accumulation stones in order to use water techniques. I had to make a five points seal, in order to limit the level of energy that he can release at any time. This is a powerful technique created by the masters of past generations. It is on its basis was formed the strongest sealing technique - five elements seal. Unfortunately, five points seal will not be able to hold the flow of this incredible power for a long time.
The Archmage, who was curiously examining the picture, with a mighty man, thoughtfully scribbled a white beard. He seemed to plunge into the world of reflection, trying to find the right words in it and to point the right way in the situation that has arisen.
But this was not all with what Lucas came to the archmage. Therefore, the lame master struggled to get up from his chair and took a few steps toward Eliot, and then stopped.
"But another thing troubles me a lot more," said Lucas with a barely recognizable voice. "For a few seconds, I felt the faint flashes of Algiz, Isa, Raido, and Soul energies deep inside him. I am sure that he does not know about their existence. The strength of the boy has awakened and this is only a matter of time, when he will be able to use all five elements in his techniques. Now you have to decide what to do in this situation, such power can be dangerous not only for Waldorf but for the whole world. No one is able to withstand or control such a colossal amount of power. In defense of the boy, I can assure you that there is no evil in his heart. It is completely filled with kindness."
Eliot sharply turned his gaze, from the picture to the interlocutor. Lucas was one of the few magicians in the tower, whose words were always true and wise.
"As you know, in the whole history there was only one person who perfectly mastered the techniques of all five elements," Eliot began his story in a serious tone. "He appeared at a time when the five great towers were ruled by powerful archmages, whose power was beyond our understanding. Coming from nowhere, a man in a dark robe, brought devastation and war to our world, luring to his side the weak-spirited magicians. The owner of the mysterious power convinced them that the power that he gained, was given to him by the gods, in order to change the world. All he wanted was to destroy the existing order and build a new one on its ashes, in which there would not be any wars. But what was the price of this?"
Eliot paused his story, once again, looking at the picture of a mighty man in a white robe.
"Watching as more and more magicians turn to the evil side, and the familiar world began to change beyond recognition, the five archmages agreed to unite under the single flag and give a decisive battle," the head of the Water Mages Order continued, not looking away from the picture. "In the battle of the Dark Tower, many glorious mages have died. But the archmages managed to break through the tower, in order to fight the magician without a name or past. Five on one, it would seem, they had to destroy him with ease. But, being on the verge of defeat, the dark mage managed to unite the five energies into one, named Yurikon or the sixth element, having obtained true immortality, thus changing the outcome of the battle. Seeing that the loss is inevitable, the heads of the five orders gave their lives to seal the enemy within the walls of the Dark Tower, using the most powerful seal - five elements seal."
The archmage directed his forefinger to the man painted on the picture, and then said with a little sadness:
"One of the five heroes of that time, thanks to which the life in the five towers flourishes, my father - Archmage Gaviot. I remember that day when he was going to his last battle. Like foreshadowing his own death, a few days before it, he told me that I cannot bring anything good into this world, destroying others missions. In those days I was too young to understand the meaning of these words, but now I fully understand the wisdom that my father left me."
Eliot's sad tone filled with confidence and courage, as if he had found a way that would solve all the problems.
"You acted very wisely, using the seal of five points and limiting the level of his power. There is not much time left before the start of the tournament, which will be attended by students, mages, and archmages from other towers. If one of them feels the power of a boy, this will lead to an even worse deterioration of relations between the towers."
"After all, the key, which can release the dark lord by removing the seal of the five elements, is kept in the walls of the Waldorf tower. And do you remember the reason for this?"
The calm face of master Lucas filled with rage. The words of the archmage made old wounds of the past open.
"It's impossible to forget!" with an angry voice, exclaimed the master. "Cursed mages of lightning, twenty years ago decided that the key to the seal should be kept with them - in the Falgord tower. Having been refused, they crawled through our barrier and attacked us. That night, there was no family that would not be deprived of a loved one."
Lucas's hands clenched into fists, and the stones on the necklace were sowed with bright a light.
"You are right, there was no one who did not lose a close person on that ill-fated night," Eliot confirmed with a sad tone. "Therefore, we must do everything so that no one will know that the tower is inhabited by a magician, who controls all the elements! The young man with his appearance violated the delicate balance of power existing between the five towers, which would unquestionably cause controversy and no confidence to Waldorf, and then this fact may lead to war. Our conversation will remain between us, and no one should know about it."
Eliot came to the table, on which lay a pile of papers and with a gesture of his hand invited the master to approach him.
"Reports from watchtowers located on the border are very troubling. In them, mages report about the disappearance of adherents. And today from the Falgord tower came a scroll with apologies. Its content says, about the refusal of participation in the tournament. The official reason is the unreadiness of their adherents. All this very much alerted me. And a month ago I sent three masters of water magic to the dark tower, instructing to check if anyone had settled there. All of them never returned."
Archmage looked at Lucas in anticipation of his ideas.
"The tournament was created by our ancestors, in order to strengthen the friendly ties between the magicians of the five towers, thereby preventing the emergence of hatred that could lead to war. I'm very sorry that the lightning mages forgot this fact. But their decision was not new to me because the tower Falgord is run by a very young archmage - Umilad. He by virtue of his youth, does not have enough experience to conduct foreign policy. Therefore, I do not believe that they are involved in the disappearance of our mages."
Eliot sighed heavily.
"After an unsuccessful attempt to overtake the Waldorf tower, the lightning adepts lead a completely hidden life, so maybe you are right," the archmage added quietly. "But the problem remains and it should be solved. I ask to excuse me, but no one except you has so much experience to survive beyond the territory of the tower. Therefore, I entrust a secret task on your shoulders."
"I am listening."
"After a day of memory that will take place one day before the tournament starts, you will go to the dark tower. We need to make sure that no one has settled there. You have three months to prepare."
After giving instructions to Lucas, Archmage Eliot sat down at his desk and began to take apart the remaining papers, making it clear that he no longer detained him.
Lucas slowly touched his hood and still unperturbed, left the room. Defending the Waldorf Tower is a sacred vow that he gave to his deceased teacher.
