Dance of Elements: Awakening - Chapter 5
My body was shaking, not from fear, but rather from overexcitement. It took only a few seconds, and we shifted from the refectory hall of full people to an expanse of a beautiful valley, three miles away from the tower.
Only now I could appreciate the beauty of the marvelous building. Although, I was amazed by its location much more. The tower was built on a high rock and surrounded by mountains from the left and right. It seemed that nature itself, having created mighty walls, defend the home of water mages. In addition, along the entire perimeter, there was a wide river. Strangely enough, I have not noticed a single bridge with help which you can cross the river. Also, on the rock, there were no stairs, which made it impossible to get to the tower by foot.
It was spring outside and the ground was covered with fresh pale green grass. The wind was blowing soft and warm, filled with a wonderful scent. It was like a kind magician carrying my troubles away. Pleasant warmth ran through the body. I did not quite understand why we teleported here, but nature around made me forget about all the problems and accept my fate.
"In order to learn how to manage Eyvaz's energy, you'll need to know a few rules," Master Lucas said in a commanding tone, destroying my calm mood. "First and foremost - you must do everything that your master tells you and never argue with him. Secondly, your mind must be clear. Thirdly, you have to control your emotions and never let them take control over your actions, otherwise, the power will only bring pain to you and everyone who surrounds you."
Always calm and even a little boring tone of master Lucas has changed. In his voice there was a mighty force, making his words strong and convincing. It became obvious that he was an unusually strict teacher.
"The study of water magic is separated into three stages," Lucas continued. "The first is meditation. It will help you to gain strength, discover the main energy channels, and teach you how to feel, control and feel the energy of Eyvaz. The second stage is to study the theory. This includes both the history of the origin of elemental magic and the types of techniques that are used in combat magic. The third is practical lessons. Each step is extremely important, and it is necessary to master them thoroughly."
"We will learn the first stage, staying here, in the valley of knowledge. The second step, without me, you will comprehend with all adherents of the Waldorf tower, it will be taught by Master Amador, who is not the nicest person in the area, but he does not lack in wisdom and knowledge. And, finally, the third stage will take place in a legendary place - the gorge of tears. When we are there, you will understand why it is called like this. Well, let's begin to conquer the first and most important step. Daniel, are you ready?"
"Before we start, I'd like to ask you one question," I said to Master Lucas. "The necklace that you wear, as well as many Waldorf mages, is it somehow connected with your strength? I noticed a difference in the size and number of stones that were on it. And after we moved from the tower to this place, one of your stones does not look as bright as the rest, this fact suggests that the power you use is contained in them."
I noticed a note of surprise, which slipped past on the master’s face, after my words.
"Your observation and ability to analyze, are worthy of respect, these talents will be useful for you in training," said Lucas, pausing for a moment. "You were in many ways right, but not in everything. The Eyvaz energy flowing through our body is enough only to create weak techniques. Stones are needed in order to accumulate it, if to say even easier, they work as a vessel. But you need to have great skill to learn to control, such a big power, even with the help of stones, it is extremely difficult. Their number and size, indicates the class to which their owner belongs. But it's still too early for you to know, you will only get your necklace when you are able to control Eyvaz's energy thoroughly. I think it is enough for today's questions, let's start your training."
That's what scared me in this man - the power hidden in him. In the refectory hall of the tower, I saw many necklaces, and not a one with so many stones of such large sizes. Now that I stood beside him, I realized that the concentration of this energy is so strong that it causes a feeling of fear for everyone who is near. I do not quite understand how this ability works, but I can clearly feel its influence.
"Sit down, Daniel," Master Lucas said.
Near us were two large cobblestones. One of them was slowly settled by the master, and another by me.
"In meditation techniques, we cultivate awareness and attention so that Eyvaz's energy can freely flow through our body," master began with a monotonous, but not boring voice. "You have to learn to release the tension that interferes with the natural flow of energy in your body and limits the level of sensitivity. If to say easier, you have to throw all your thoughts and look inside yourself, do it and Eyvaz's energy will show to you."
Master Lucas, was explaining so clearly that for a second it seemed to me an easy thing. But then I remembered my awakening in the forest, a sad and caring voice of a woman I want to find, and all these thoughts did not allow me to focus on my goal.
"I know Daniel that it's not easy to force yourself to focus on one thing, throwing away all of your doubts. And this is an extremely difficult task to keep attention here and now. After all, it constantly fades, so you have to find an anchor to learn to hold it. Now look, I'll show you how it all looks in practice."
I did not take my eyes off him, afraid to miss, something important. Curiosity and desire to see the magic itself completely enveloped me. Master Lucas closed his eyes, slowly closing his hands near the solar plexus, his face looked relaxed and serene. At first, I felt it with my whole body. The air became heavy, the leaves lying on the ground began to rise and soar near us. Then I saw the blue light that covered the body of the master. He was beautiful and at the same time frightening. After a few minutes of fascinating action, everything stopped, and as quickly as it began, the master slowly opened his eyes, as if after a long sleep. On his face was a slightly visible fatigue.
"I made Eyvaz come out," said Lucas, after a few minutes. "And now you, Daniel, free your thoughts from dirt and you will succeed."
I closed my eyes, before closing my hands, and my mind began to search for this unknown energy. Fear, anxiety, and doubt like vultures attacked me, not giving me the slightest chance to concentrate.
"Find your anchor," - swept through my subconscious.
And then I remembered, the voice of a woman from the dream, so tender and filled with love that all my fears instantly evaporated.
"Here it is!" - I suddenly realized for myself.
And at the same moment, my consciousness was transferred to a large, semi-darkened hall with six rooms. To five of them, the path was closed with indestructible steel bars. Entrance to the sixth room was blocked by a large metal door with five golden locks. On one of the steel bars, I noticed a familiar symbol of an inverted numeral one and on the floor was laying a small blue key.
"Release me, Daniel," the voice was coming from the room.
Definitely, someone was locked there. The sixth sense told me to take the key and open the door, which I did without a doubt, trying to free the entreating prisoner.
As soon as I inserted the key into the keyhole and made a turn, the grate instantly opened. From the room, at the speed of light, a powerful energy burst out, which, like a snake wrapped around my whole body. In such a situation, I had to feel fear and horror, but no, I was overwhelmed by other feelings - power and invincibility. With all my soul I felt it - the energy of Eyvaz.
"Daniel, wake up" the master’s voice echoed in my mind. Opening my eyes, I could not believe what I saw. Everything around looked like as if a powerful hurricane hit this valley.
"Praise the goddess, you have come to your senses!" Master Lucas shouted, getting out from a fallen tree, branches of which covered him.
"What happened here?" I asked in surprise. "Who did it?"
But the master did not answer. He just stood and looked at me with an astonished look. One of his hands was hidden behind his back, and his lips moved as if he was trying to say something, but I could not hear a single word. Suddenly, two stones on his necklace were sown with a bright blue light. He deftly jumped and a moment later he was a step away from me, his hand was still behind his back.
"The element of water - a seal of five points!" exclaimed the master excitedly.
His hand came from behind him. The palm was half open, above the fingers burned small blue lights. The master's face tightened and in the same second, he hit me in the chest area.
I felt a burning sensation in the place of an impact, but that's not all. The feeling of power that overwhelmed me, a second ago, disappeared. I stared in shock at Lucas, who still stood beside me. On his face, I could not read evil or anger, but only wild astonishment.
"Forgive me, Daniel," the master said, breaking the silence. "I had to use a sealing technique on you that would limit the level of your strength until you learn to control it. Before, I could not determine its potential, apparently because it was hidden deep inside you. But now I see that our further training without a seal will be dangerous. For today, I think it's enough; we have already stayed here for more than eight hours. It's time to return to the tower, I still have some things to do."
"Eight hours?!" I was surprised. "I closed my eyes for a couple of minutes."
"Do not worry about it. Daniel, everything in this world is relative and time is no exception, therefore, the second may seem like an eternity, and the whole life may seem like a flash."
"Master Lucas," I interrupted the teacher.
"What?"
"Let me stay, I'd like to stay a little longer in this place, have a walk, think about it, maybe staying close to nature will make me feel better."
He hurriedly glanced at me, and then his hand slowly reached the right pocket of his robe. I froze in anticipation, assuming that he was going to use one of his techniques on me again. But the master has only taken a small dark stone and gave it to me.
"Take Daniel," Lucas said. "When you decide to go back to the tower, squeeze the amulet of teleportation just with one hand, and then draw a crescent moon in the air, focus on your room and you'll be there. I am certain that even with limited powers, you have enough energy to do this. And now I need to leave. Tomorrow you must attend the theoretical lesson of Master Amador. My advice to you is not to be late for it."
Master Lucas took another amulet from his pocket. A few fast moves of his hand and he dissolved into the air as if he had never been here.
