The mistake of Jack - Chapter 8 - FICTION

in #fiction7 years ago

The whole world came to a pause for Miranda at that moment. How dare he? Once was enough, but twice! While looking at the picture in front of her, she felt sick. In fact, she felt so sick that she wanted to throw up. Instead of the sadness she felt the last time, she experienced pain and anger this time. It made sense to her why he would hide his phone in the drawer and not let it charge on the bed side table like other normal people, the kind that has nothing to hide. This must be the reason why he left work early the day before, she thought. This explains the dream too.

Unsure what to do, Miranda stood up from the sofa but immediately sat back down again due to her legs that were shaking underneath her. Her arms and her hands were trembling too as well as her gut. She tried a second time to stand up. It felt as if she could not breathe and she needed to get some air. The closest she could get to fresh air was the dining room. She pulled a chair next to the window, opened it as wide as possible and inhaled deeply for a couple of seconds. Looking at the clock, she saw that it was already past 3 o’clock in the morning. Clutching Jack’s phone in her hand, she tried to come to terms with what she had just seen. Is this the type of things he secretly likes? she wondered. He has never asked her to dress, or rather, undress in such a way. Did he take these pictures himself?

She must have known that the Cindy Jack was dreaming about could only be the Cindy from his office. The one in the photo’s on the phone! She met her one day when she visited her husband at his office and when she thinks about it now, this little tart had only eyes for Jack that day already. She worked at reception and have one of those very annoying, tiny, husky voices that one usually see slutty secretaries have in the movies. Her whole posture, body language and sense of clothing proved to Miranda the type that she is, but she would never have expected this to happen. Typical! If that’s what Jack likes, then he should have it! she thought.

Miranda needed a plan and although she wasn’t sure how to approach Jack, it had to be done but on her own terms. She stood up and walked around the dining room table to the cupboard on the other side. She took out an old packet of cigarettes which she hid there years ago after she quit smoking. She knew that Jack could not stand the smell of smoke so she decided to smoke right there, inside the house. That would get his attention! She looked around for a lighter and then found a small box of matches in the bottom kitchen drawer which Jack uses when he makes a barbeque. She wanted Jack to wake up to the smell of cigarette smoke so she deliberately moved her chair so that the smoke could reach the main bedroom down the hall. The chair was placed strategically after a few trial-and-error tests. The air conditioner behind the chair would help the smoke along the passage and it would be a done deal for him to wake up that way.

In a sexy kind of way, she sat back in the chair with one leg crossed over the other, fully aware that he would be able to see her underwear, should he come out of the bedroom. She lit the cigarette and inhaled deeply, blowing the first smoke in the direction of the hallway. Her one arm was folded below the other and she waited patiently for him to appear in the doorway. A calmness came over her and for the first time in a while, she felt in control. Why is it only him that can get what he wants? He clearly wants other things that I don’t approve of so I will smoke until everything turns yellow! she thought, feeling proud of herself with every single pull on the cigarette.

The cigarette wasn’t even smoked halfway through when she heard a noise coming from the room. She could hear him fidgeting on the mattress and she knew that the moment he steps foot outside the door, he would see her and turn crazy, but the thought didn’t bother her at all. She wanted him to be angry at her as she was angry with him. Even though her heart was racing and her head felt a little fuzzy from the cigarette, she was ready!

It's too short... the suspense ...
Do you know what you going to write next or are you making it up as you go? Thanks for sharing!

Hi @hope777. I have an idea where I want to go with the story and then sometimes I change my mind while I'm writing and the whole thing changes.
Thanks for reading ;)

She knows what kind of secretary he has, but did not put it fully together yet, unless of course Jack really is guilty. If he keeps acting guilty that is what everyone is going to think. An impressive and ambitious story @bdmomuae, thank you for sharing.

Thanks @bashadow. Let's see what happens...

Very nice to see a story again. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for reading @bigbear
