Part XXIII

After failing to assassinate Matthew due to the unexpected interference from a member of the "organization", duke Bernard immediately contact its leader Helmut.

"Oh? What a surprised! If it isn't duke Bernard," said Helmut. "How could I be of service?"

Hearing Helmut's nonchalant and gruffy voice, the duke fumed.

"Stop pretending! You know why I called you!" Yelled the duke.

Helmut frown in displeasure after being yelled at. He then coldly looked at the duke.

Thump!

The duke's heart almost missed a beat after sensing Helmut's killing intent!

"H-how terrifying!" The duke thought.

Helmut then warned the duke, "I will let this pass for now but next time— heads will fly!"

The duke gulp and quickly apologized. He then told Helmut the reason he called, despite knowing in his heart that Helmut was already aware of the reason.

"Is that so? What do you want me to do about it?" Helmut asked.

Hearing his "I don't care reply", the duke almost flew in rage but reason won at the end. He then thought for a moment and said, "I want someone assassinated".

"Matthew right?" Asked Helmut but then said, "not possible"!

Duke Bernard got shocked with Helmut's reply and asked, "but why?!"

"Whitelist," answered Helmut, shocking the duke.

"What?! How?!" Screamed the duke in fright, fully aware what the whitelist represents.

Helmut did not answered and merely looked at the duke.

"C-can, can you removed his name from the list?" The duke asked unsured.

"No! Those who are on the whitelist, stays at the whitelist!" Helmut straightforwardly answered.

Tbe duke become dumbfounded and then sigh thereafter.

Bang!

After the communication ended, the fuming duke Bernard smashed the table. He then went to the balcony and calmed himself. Thirty minutes later, he summoned his trusted aide and told him to cancel all assassination mission concerning Matthew!

Though confused, the aide did not say anything and do what he was ordered.

Meanwhile, inside a tall tower hidden in the mountains. A beautiful young lady was seating on her bed while in deep thought. This young lady is non other than Maria, the female assassin from the organization!

While in deep thought, Maria felt her magic communicator activating. Her communicator was only known to one person in the world, and that person is none other than the organization Helmut!

Maria stood up from her bed and exits her room. He then walks toward Helmut's office.

"You summoned me, father?" She asked outside the door.

Indeed, Maria is Helmut's adopted daughter!
