Freewrite Day 546 School House

We moved a lot when I was growing up and I went to 16 schools before graduating from High School at the last one. I only went there for four months and did not bother to attend the graduation ceremony.

For some reason the ceremony was in the next Fall for that school and I was long gone by then anyway. My mom was still there and wanted me to come back for it, but I could not think of anything I would less like to make an effort for.

Sometimes we moved and I did not change schools. Sometimes I changed schools when we did not move. I learned some topics a few times in different places and I never learned other things, since I was not there when they were taught. The whole thing was very confusing.

Earth Science was one thing I learned three times, and luckily I liked it. I took it again for my Accounting School science elective and aced that class.

Later in college English class, I read Shakespeare for the first time. That seems like an odd thing to miss, but I had never read any of it before. My professor told me he often had students who had not understood Shakespeare, but that I was the first who had never even read it.

I have to say, I did not feel that I missed out one bit after the parts I did read in College. I like things plain and simple and Shakespeare is anything but.

Another thing I missed was Greek and Roman myths. @bxlphabet loved those when he got to them in school and taught me some of them as he was growing up.

As for the school houses themselves, I don’t remember much. I can see the doors and grounds of some of them, but not much in the interiors. That’s probably because I was running off at the time lol.

My brother is the same as me, having very foggy memories of school days. My mom said he once told her a story of a school but it was not in the right place where we were living at the time. “I don’t know what’s wrong with you two kids!” Hahahaha! I love you mom. You did the best you could.
