Bridges are common, but hanging bridges are not. Imagine a place not far away from a State Highway connecting two cities and that particular place is deprived of access during heavy rainy season, a place with a history as old as 1500 years in the form of a temple, a structure as modern as a Hanging bridge, a river in the name of Periyar through which a boat ride is possible to the unknown areas of a jungle associated with the Asia’s biggest arch dam. All these sums up why visiting this place with amazing landscape is highly recommendable to any travel enthusiasts.

As we stepped outside from the car less than two kilometers from the main road it looked like were in an Indian village rather than enjoying in a tourist place. A feast for eyes and a refreshment for the artistic sense of any human beings who loves nature in its pure form.

What we had seen was live view of old portraits hanged on many walls since long time back - a small bridge on a foot path over a small stream, the stream that is widened at the far end which looks like a lake, a traditional boat moving on the lake, domestic untied cows wandering in the lush greenery, women washing clothes on the banks of the lake, gravel roads naturally formed due to people walking regularly and adding to all these was a long hanging (suspension) bridge on the air,– which made me to think that why this place is never seen in the list of places to be visited in Kerala.

Hanging bridge was the real attraction which looks like a huge structure floating in the sky. It is the longest suspension bridge in Kerala with a length of 200 meters constructed across two panchayats.

During monsoons or whenever there is heavy rains continuous for few days the entire area would be submerged along with the surplus water from Idukki Dam

Some fun moments over the brige as everyone wants to capture the pictursque beauty of this special peice of village.

A walk along the bridge to cross over to other side was a fun altogether, did it seemed to be oscillating at the midway, thought so. Many people from kids to grownups were seen enjoying this never seen type of construction.

The walk over the bridge becomes special as the views of landscape on both sides were a treat to watch with each step over it with greenery all around on the right side to an extent wherever the eyes had gone with nothing for obstruction of the vision.

Another Information related to this place was a real fun cum reality. There exists a king ruling over a particular area even in this 21st century. A tribal category inside this forest area which consists of approximately 3000 families is still governed by a king supported by ministers and councils. It was also fascinated to realize that the present King was a graduate from a city college too, a kind of exposure to the level of education in Kerala of course.

Finallly before saying good bye to the village, it was another welcome change to have some hot coffee and some tastly local evening snacks from the 5 stool hotel (Check the word it is 5 Stool not 5 star..) was brought the day to an end.

Great bridge. I have not seen one of that type in a long time. For a foot bridg it has to be one of the longest in the world. It has to be an amazing sight during the floods
Thanks for the shout out ! #anhouraday has improved my posts. I still use the technique even now and still improving.

True... I really wanted to see that area in a heavy monsoon time which is not rare in the state as a matter of fact, but could not materialize. Even in my original write up I mentioned those part very clearly..but I did not include..I think it is better if that portion might also include

Thanks for the nice compliment...We are growing because of you all here...Carry on the good work...
Stay blessed

LOL it's a terrible thing to say , But I would like to see it also

hahah...true..waiting for a day that my holidays and monsoon will bump on each other

Amazing view and great pictures.I love to see it make positive impact on my mind.

You're so brave going across the bridge! lol I was getting goosebumps from just looking at it then reading about it swaying when you was in the middle! eek!! lol I have a fear of heights haha but the scenery looks beautiful around!

Thanks for visiting and I am glad you liked it. No,it is not that much frieightning height. But true that when @ the middle while a wind blown it has oscillated...haha...

And the scenery, absolutely marvellory, I really wanted to visit during monsoon...

I've never heard of monsoon so I googled.. That would be so cool to see!! If you ever able to visit during that... definitely have to share!! Hope your day is going well!

Really! You didnt heard about Monsoon. your profile Photo says you are in Missorie.. Any how it is heavy rainy season, when we call it as monson,

The entire area becomes flooded and only that bridge is available option for the people to cross over. Looks time pass for us and a struggle for the villagers.

Thanks hope you goodi

Yes. I'm from Missouri, small town. It floods here at times, but if it's too bad they will just shut down roads here and we can't leave. That's good they have that bridge there for you guys then! Escape if needed!

Thanks for the reply! Is it Missouri or Mussorie... Here flood may not be that much severe. Share some Missorie snaps through the post ...
