Oct 12 & 13 - Steemit Ramble - Notes on My Favourite Reads

in #curation8 years ago

I dropped into the SteemTrails channel on Steem Chat yesterday and decided to support the project by curating the topics curation, writing and life. I’ll prepare a post about it in a bit. Just getting some other stuff done as part of my day.

I was expecting to have today to work on writing but I’ve been called into the bar to cover for someone else. I also had to drop my vehicle into the repair shop. This evening the branch has been asked to take a colour party to the to the local arena for the home opening of a local Junior hockey team.

Onward to today’s rambling

Why You Should Not Trade on Exchanges - Buy/Sell Tips by Charlie Shrem

@charlieshrem writes an interesting post suggesting that using commercial exchanges to buy and sell Steem contributes to the instability that it is currently experiencing. His comments are largely directed to large holders but it is of interesting to anyone trying to understand the Steem system.

Guide on Steemit Savings Account, Everything you need to know about this Feature that Helps Secure your STEEM & STEEM DOLLAR

@steemitguide provides us with a guide on how the new savings feature works. It’s primarily to protect the balances of STEEM and Steem Dollars that we keep in our wallets.

The Case for Buying Steem and Steem Power: The Dollar Vigilante Says Steem Is Now a Buy

@dollarvigilante posts a buy suggestion for STEEM as a speculative investment after weeks of it dropping in value. While many on the site have been in panic mode pronouncing that the site is dying and some have left to higher ground, @dollarvigilante applies a moderate approach of seeing the huge potential of Steemit to grow and return a handsome return.

SteemTrail Phase Two: Category Trails Released

This is a follow up from yesterday’s post announcing the project. People have responded and @steemtrail has announced the first set of topic curators. I’ve chosen to support the project in the areas of: Curation, Life & Writing.

Steemit.com updates - Savings accounts, New payout options, New registration process and more [release 0.0.20161011 PR 460]

@ausbitbank does a good outline of the changes which appeared on the site in the last couple of days.

A Change of Routine

So, I got rather busy yesterday and wasn’t able to finish my post. Today has started over somewhat the same. I’m still waiting to hear what is wrong with my vehicle and what it will cost me to get it back on the road.

Rather than starting over with a post for today, I’m just going to carry on and it will cover two days instead of one.

So, back to the Ramble

Experiments with drawing on the tablet

This is a pretty cool post. If @voronenka hadn’t specifically stated that the pictures displayed had been done on a tablet, I’d have never believed it. They looked like they had been drawn and scanned.

Asgardia - Join the world's first nation in outer space

How many times have you watched a movie or TV show depicting an orbiting station that functions as it’s own society in space? Futuristic at best? Well @incomemonthly writes about a multi-national project expected to be underway in the next 18 months to build an orbiting nation on a permanent space station.

Poeticsnake sings Evita... Or tries to at least!

I don’t normally look at videos but this one is worth listening to. Whenever anyone has the courage to at least try to do something outside of their comfort zone, my hat goes off to them.

Announcing: Golden Steem Awards @ Steemfest

Okay, ladies and gents, it’s time to put forth your favourites in the areas of: photography, original art, original fiction, life advice and undiscovered author. I’ll be posting this for a few days to give you a chance to have a look and make your nominations.

Hurry Up.

This isn’t a post that reads easily but it’s one that is worth the effort. Sometimes children can teach us more than we can ever imagine.

Forgiving does not mean forgetting

Forgiveness is a very difficult subject to wrap our heads around. Many people think that to forgive someone for the wrong they have done that you need to be willing to forget and let everything carry on as before. @honeyscribe writes beautifully about how that is not the purpose or the outcome of forgiveness. It doesn’t make the old new, it just makes it less toxic for the person doing the forgiving.

Announcing: My Dedication To The SteemTrail Project - Category Curation

As I mentioned further up above, I have stepped up to assist with SteemTrail and here is the announcement from @bitcoinparadise about the tags he’s willing to curate and work on building community.

Wrap-up on Day 35

The last couple of days have been interesting. In addition to my usual reading I’ve been looking in particular at posts filed under the tags that I’m going to be curating for SteemTrails.

Part of the idea there is to build community in each of the areas. To do that I we need to have a sense of what each tag will include or not to be considered for upvoting for that tag. In some of the tags some sub groups will need to be incorporated.

Is going to be an interesting challenge.

Supporting and Upvoting

Let’s not forget folks. I’m sharing these posts not only because I like them. I’d really like to see them get support and upvoting. I know some of the posts have done okay by the time I post my ramble, but some really could use the support and upvoting.

Subscribing to My Posts

In addition to following me on Steemit, which I really appreciate. If you want to be sure to know about every post, you can subscribe at my other blog. I’ll send you an email when I post.
