Meet some new Steemians! New user curation 23-Jun-18

in #curation6 years ago (edited)

Have you tried browsing the #introduceyourself tag and been frustrated at how difficult it is to find actual introduceyourself posts? Well, look no farther! The following is curated list of people who are new to Steem. I have read each of these posts and they look to be interesting additions to the community!

My CommentsSo, this gentleman from the UK is probably my favorite discovery of the day. Really great vlog: well shot and edited, entertaining and interesting. This guy is a father and a leatherworker and takes you inside his day. Just a super interesting 12 minute ride. I highly recommend you check him out.

My CommentsShe's an artist and looks like she'll be posting "examples of my art work, so that customers at my shows have somewhere to view my collections. That being said, I could also see myself sharing book reviews, creative or journal-style writing, thoughts as I journey through graduate school, tutorials for DIY projects, and more!"

They say that to be successful in business you need to find a need and fill it. I have been irritated at how much sorting you have to do through the introduceyourself tag before you find an actual, legitimate, thorough, and high-quality new user post. If you like this idea, I can keep them coming every so often.

This is harder than I thought! Once I got going I really didn't want to stop. I called it quits when I hit the "12 hours ago" mark. But holy crap is there so much garbage... I had to toss one out that I thought was legit because while the introduceyourself post was ok, the only other post on the account was a guide to free porn sites... And then there is this one, (at)insanefacts, who allegedly has 220k Instragram followers but whose posts are... well, just go check it out for yourself and let me know your impressions. I'm pretty sure some of the posts are straight up plagiarized, and this is not a legitimate account. And then are the painfully obvious bot/scam accounts. Know how I know? Because the same post is being submitted under multiple different usernames! Ugh, fun times...

Hope this was helpful! Feedback very welcome. I enjoyed this so much I might make it a regular thing.

howdy there @dollarsandsense! hey I think this is a great idea and you are literally doing the work that most of us don't have the time or patience for so this is great and we should pay you to do this, or someone should!
very interesting newcomers, thank you!

Thanks @janton! I am trying it out in a new format - let me know if you like it better!

howdy @dollarsandsense hey thanks for the reminder. I saw that you posted another one yesterday and I was saving that because I wanted to have my vote count for something but it's still not worth a plug nickel today!
I think I made one vote today which was worth one cent, the rest haven't been worth anything. So it didn't do me any good to wait.
anyway I'll go and check that post out, I'm anxious to see the new format.
thanks for getting back to me.
