S7 PLANS TO SELL TICKETS FOR CRYPTOCURRENCY
The Russian airline has announced its intention to use the Ethereum blockchain to sell air tickets with the support of the country’s largest private commercial bank.
On Monday, the Russian airline “Sibir,” known as “S7,” and Alfa-Bank launched a project to sell air tickets on the blockchain. According to the bank, one of the key advantages of using the technology is a significant acceleration of payments.
In December of the last year, “S7” and Alfa-Bank implemented the first-of-its-kind service payment using a smart contract through a letter of credit on the blockchain.
Announcement of the last project of S7 and Alfa-Bank has occurred after the largest Russian airline “Aeroflot” has published a proposal for the introduction of digital currencies and technologies related to them.
According to the representatives of the airline, “S7” is considering the possibility of paying for air tickets in cryptocurrency. At the moment, the airline is developing requirements for this type of currency as a form of payment, as well as assessing the risks associated with its adoption on a wider scale.
The end of the project is scheduled for December 10, 2017.
