Speed Drawing: Pelvis Study
Hi everyone!
In today´s time-lapse I am studying the pelvis (hip bone). I am quickly sketching a few poses from photo references, paying mostly attention to the inclination of the hip and the landmarks of the pelvis. I try to determine its orientation, and the muscles that are attached to it.

Tip of the day
Visualize the pelvis as a box.
In order to give depth to the figure, I find it really helps to see the pelvis as a rigid box to which the flexible muscles of the abdomen attach themselves to. When u draw it, try to visualize each side and the edge where those 2 sides connect (turning edge). It will help give structure to your drawing.
Book recommendation
Anatomy for the Artist, Sarah Simblet , this is not a drawing book but an anatomical reference, in fact one of my all-time favorite book. As you can see, its pitiful state is a testament to how often I use it:P
This book is filled with magnificent pictures of the human form superposed with detailed drawings of its bones & muscles; it was a invaluable tool to help me see landmarks on the human body and to visualize muscles.
I would not only recommend this book to drawers but to anyone with an interest in human anatomy; this is a unique book that gave me a whole new perspective on human anatomy. A must read!
