"There is a New Way..." - Daily Word #38

Let's continue from yesterday's sharing in Romans 7, as we pick it up at verse 5...

...When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. Source

Have you ever saw it that way?

Old Nature = Sin = Death.

If we choose to be controlled by our old nature; our old self, our old desires, passions and secret longings that may not be aligned with God, we will be overtaken by our sinful ways and it will continue to work within us.

You see the law locks us in chains and the guilt of all our wrong-doings continue to wage war against us. It's like if we think we can defeat our own sinful ways with our righteous living, we are positioned for doom. Death is lurking at our door, the moment we think we are in control.

And so our first response is to allow God's Righteousness to deliver us from the Law, only His Truth, His Death, His Resurrection, His New Life can set us FREE!

...But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit. Source

New Way = Spirit = Life!

Amen!!! Once we the captives are released, from the bonds of the law and its power... it NO LONGER has a hold on us.

We have moved from obeying the letter of the law, to living the new life in the Spirit!! So our lives are no longer controlled by the 'dos' and 'dont's', but by what the Spirit is doing, saying, releasing and empowering in and through us -- to move forward!

I love the Passion Translation that says... "And our lives are no longer motivated by the obsolete way of following the written code, so that now we may serve God by living in the FRESHNESS OF NEW LIFE IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!" Source

Is your life lead by the Holy Spirit? Will you allow Him to take total control today?
